Do you know of any other cars from the same mfg as yours? Chances are some one has been there done that. I came across this building my 68 C/10. A couple of guys had run the 20” riddler wheel and found out the exact amount the factory 12 bolt needed to be cut for that wheel back spacing. I was able to fit 295’s in factory bed tubs after mark williams worked their magic. 🤘

Wheel and tire choosing is difficult for sure
I'm both looking forward to it and not at the same time.

There are a few out there but it all depends on how they were built, I have a narrowed rear axle vs what is normally run so that will throw a bit of a wrench into the works. I'll cross that bridge when I get there but with enough time and measuring I should be able to get it figured out.
It says you're in Oklahoma. Me too! I never see you...
That's too cool, I've been to an old shop/farm in Terlton, ok before, was a nice place, the guy even knew how to make a broom.

It took me months to decide on my street wheels, and now I am trying to figure out the cheapest lightweight 15x8's I can find so I can run my slicks lol. I think I figured those out too and they are Bassett Racing's light weight steel wheels they come in at like 17lbs/ea

Another busy weekend, got the Jeep loaded up and ready to meet the new owner:
IMG_2714.JPG

We met him at his bank and pulled out the money for the transaction, I was a bit stoked to say the least:
IMG_2717.JPG

Now to decide what to spend it on...oh yeah Godzilla. :)

Sunday I picked up hay for the horses for the girls, stacked in the addition I put on the lean to and fenced it off:
IMG_2716.jpg

Monday was spent finishing some touches on the two gates and did a little fishing, I caught close to 2 dozen when we ran out of night crawlers. Back to work today.

Nice,
What specs will you be wanting to run?
18x11 in the rear and 18x9.5 up front, may go 18x8 depending on how the measuring goes. It looks like they will be a pretty heavy combination but I'm not looking for all out performance, just the look.

Yeah, it will be hard for me to do all out performance especially since my truck weighs a ton. 7200GVRW, but 5-600hp should make it scoot. You should have no issues with those wheels at all.

As per my normal lately I spent the weekend working on stuff. I cut down another couple dozen or so trees and got the stacked up to dry out before burning at some point this fall/winter. I decided to do an oil change on The Lemon and also rotate the tires and bleed the brakes to get new fluid in them:
IMG_2744.JPG

That went easy...then it didn't go so well:
IMG_2745.JPG

That is what it looks like when the oil filter doesn't go on all the way. It got tight but something went wrong and it wouldn't go all the way on. I tried a different filter and got the same results making the mess even bigger. For attempt 3 I pulled the filter mount off of the car and installed one from the other engine setting on the floor. Went on no problems after than and still working great today. Then put the mount onto the junk engine and it went on just fine there. :headscrat

To get some oil for the 3rd attempt I took the cobra in to town for its last trip, interestingly I was very close to getting 35,000 miles on the odometer so I made a couple trips around the yard, gave it a bath and pulled it in:
IMG_2746.JPG

I got it on the lift and let the coolant drain all night:
IMG_2747.JPG

This morning I started taking parts off:
IMG_2748.JPG

Wheels, fender liners, and side pipes off now to start taking some measurements and mocking up some parts for the header build before pulling the engine.

Looks like you squeezed the lemon?! 🙃

Always fun to roll one over to start "fresh" on the ODO. I've got a little book I keep in my Z28 that has the mileage written down for each major step I take with it.

In this case the juice wasn't worth the squeeze. haha

I keep notes in all of my vehicles, they used to be paper notes but they were destroyed in the cobra in the rain so I started keeping them on my phone as notes, then I always have them with me for all vehicles. I keep tabs on fuel fill ups and the like as well so I know how much I drive and the mileage for each one. Yeah spreadsheets.

Love the sheer size ov your shop and space.

And all the stuff you do.
I need to show you the other direction, it is quite packed right now but I still have room to work. I just wish I'd have gotten the engine in already so I could truly start on the swap.

@zmotorsports, looks like I might be out your way in a few weeks to pick up a new car I just won, would you like a visitor for a few minutes?

I received a text then call last night I didn't expect, I entered a raffle put on by the guys at Everyday Driver of YouTube fame and won one of the cars. I don't have time to watch YouTube unless I'm looking for specific information on a project but I do listen to their podcast which is where I heard about the cars up for raffle.

So what did I win? A 2004 BMW Z4 3.0L and 6 speed manual, this is the exact car:
IMG_2758.jpg

Now I have to fly out to Park City, Ut to pick it up in the next few weeks. I'm pretty excited to have won it and look forward to putting some miles on it bringing it home.

Wow! Looks nice! I did not win the raffle last week on a new Audi RS6, unfortunately.
I would have much rather won the RS6, that would have been very sweet. Best part about this one is I have tons of video of the car to enjoy.
Congrats on the new car.

Awesome, will do, I still need to work the details with them on when I can get it and when I can get away from work.
You lucky sob.
I won't complain too much, it was definitely not expected.
I believe this deserves a "You ****"
One of the very few I've received, I'll take it. Thank you.
You lucky sob, I'm jealous, can't even a lottery.
I'd much rather have won the lottery, but I guess you have to play that one to win.

JB, congratulations. In my world that kind of blessing turns into a curse. In 1980 I decided to re-paint my '72 Corvette. While it was off the road I had no fun car to drive so when a co-worker mentioned he was selling his 1974 Fiat X1/9 for $1,800, I figured why not. He bought it new in California and flat-towed it to Florida in 1979. I had so much fun with that car that the Corvette languished.

Awesome sir. I like the z cars but I can't fit much in them so never owned one. Look forward to the header build for the cobra too!

I sure hope that doesn't happen to me, I have a lot to do on the cobra engine swap but need to find the time to get to Utah to pick it up and wonder aimlessly back to Oklahoma. The Fiat is an interesting looking item, I can't say I've ever seen one before.

Haha my grandfather and father have said that before and sometimes even relating to me. Sometimes I feel like I'm pretty lucky, other times...I feel like I just got the manure.
Congrats on the unexpected win!
Thank you iced, I knew the chances were small but when I first heard they were going to raffle these cars off last year I decided I'd enter just because I liked the Z4 that much but not enough to buy my own.

I don't usually have trouble fitting in anything at only mid 5' on a good day, the current owner is 6'3" so hopefully I can reach the pedals. I'm looking forward to getting the headers going but have to get the engine first and I'm not having much luck on that front.

I was talking cargo/passengers lol. I am only 5'10" so I can fit in most cars.

JB, mine was yellow and it had a stock engine and aftermarket wheels. It's mid-engine so really good handling. I'm 5'11" and shrinking so back in the day I had to take the targa top off when wearing a helmet.
1974 Fiat X19 Racing 800.jpg
Found a modified engine and some slightly wider wheels and tires (235/50-13 rear, 215/50-13 front on 7" rims). Dual two barrel Webers, a cam and headers turned it into a go kart.

Got ya, yep I've only ever been around one once and it was a Z3 and I never even opened the trunk. They are telling me it has a surprisingly large trunk but I bet it won't fit more than 2 wheels/tires if that.

That sure looks like a fun car Bob, as well as tiny, it blows be away how small cars used to be when crash zones and safety devices were a thing of the future.

So back again, made some good progress this weekend, Cat helped me hang the last gate, took a total of 20 minutes, after the hour and a half of driving to town to get it:
IMG_2899.JPG

I also played with the cobra a bit, test fit some 305 rear tires I have and it looks like the 315's I want will fit with just a bit of extra room but not much:
IMG_2893.JPG

I started getting some of the parts in I ordered, the new "collector" flange is slightly bigger than the old one lol:
IMG_2892.JPG

I made a plate that mounted to the old flange and welded it to the frame of the car so I can attach the new flange to those and have a place to build the headers to and allow the side pipes to bolt back in the same location. Should work out pretty sweet...hopefully. After that there was nothing stopping me from pulling the engine and trans, 2 hours later:
IMG_2898.JPG

I also needed to change the wiring up a little for the new engine so I dug into that. I went a little overboard and will now be stripping a lot more to clean up the wiring I did 8 years ago, not bad but I do better work now:
IMG_2915.JPG

Looks just a bit daunting, but it'll all come back together soon enough...hopefully.

And so it begins... good luck with the project watch out for scope creep.
I have no doubt there will be plenty of scope creep, just look at the interior, that wasn't part of my "plan".
1-7/8's primary or 2" ?
2", however, the 2" OD tubing I bought doesn't fit in the 2" ID collectors I bought, hmmm....
Scope creep on a Cobra?? No such thing.......

Haha yes there will be plenty, start off with getting it running then realize I have the rest of winter to look at other things that need work too while it is too cold to drive. I see this getting expensive and taking a lot of my time.
Just noticed your registration plate.

PERFECT !!
It is very fitting, I have gotten as bad as around 10 mpg but as good as upper teens. The new engine will require premium gas though so that will make it that much more expensive to drive.

I live in a country that charges us around $1.85/liter for gas or diesel……….

AND I NEVER CARE ABOUT GAS PRICES IN MY S10 even though it is a standard-ish 4,3 V6.

When it is time to fill it up I fill it up, and don't worry about it, for that I feel very grateful.

All,
In other news I was checking into the rear tire I plan to run and they are on national backorder with no estimated delivery date. And so it begins. Luckily Summit had 5 on the shelf but slightly smaller at 305/40-18 instead of the 315's like I wanted. I bought 2 of them and no telling when I would ever be able to get the other size in.

Keep moving forward,
