Well, here we are. Moved into a nice property in Port Orange, and whaddya know....already has a 60x30 detached garage. Problem is the previous owner decided to sub divide it up into multiple rooms. So....first phase phase of the project is to demo the walls. It's also been wired up, so along the way I'm going to have to pull some circuits and wiring out of the walls.

Planned use is a fun shop for me, with the TIG/MIG welders, a few metal machines, and general mechanical/automotive builds.

Pics to come!

Better with a torch, or hammer, or my hands. I tried to do a quick overall google sketchup of the garage....couldn't figure out how to upload the file so I did a screenshot.

Tearing out all the walls yesterday resulted in this 12 yard bin being filled. ******** drywall is heavier than it seems....I'm beat.

Not alot of time for the garage today, but I did make a small bit of progress. Framed up my wall. First attempt didn't work, but a slight adjustment for the not quite level ceiling and she's up. Tomorrow ill add a door to the far right son you don't have to traverse the lawn room to get into the man cave.

Yes it is...short story is it was my first "real" bike. After hiding it from the parents 20 years ago I finally sold it to a college friend. Bought it back in boxes about a year ago from him, a began to restore it. Needs wiring and paint....but I'm sidetracked now with the move and garage rebuild.

Right now I'm headed out to frame in a door.

Do you store anything in the attic?

Nothing in the attic, currently the access would make that difficult at best. I do want to rebuild the shelves the PO had and somehow add sliding doors to it. Going to attempt to to keep everything inside cabinets and drawers. I want a shop I can clean out with a blower and have little to dust...

No new pics, although I did get the electrical done and the door framed in. I need to find a sill for the door, hopefully there is such a thing (not sure if they normally come with a door it not).

Drywall will hopefully come this week. Then lighting, then cabinets.

Now in just have to move everything out so I can paint.

Question.....

Should I just wait until I can paint the ceiling first before I do the walls?

I'd like to repaint the ceiling at some point as well to hide all the patches. I want to replace the old lighting with new T5's but can't quite swing the bill at this point. I don't want to pull down the lighting only to rehang it back....then patch and rewire when I can buy the new lighting....if that makes sense.

Swept it, pressure washed the floor, and squeeged it off. Bought paint but I'm out of steam (had to empty the garage as well!). Should be ready to paint in the am. Ceiling will wait for the lights, I'm just doing the walls.

After being unable to wade through all the red tape BS, I had to cough up $1600 to have 40' of wire buried and a 200amp meter placed on the side of the garage. Makes me sick just typing it, seeing as though it was about $300 in materials. Thanks go out to Volusia County for basically telling me I had to hire it out or they would forever deny my permit application.

Govt' ***** ***. Leave me the hell alone and let me do as I please!

In any case, I'll have new 200amp service this week. Pics coming!

200 amp service is being hooked up Friday, then it's time to shop for cabinets and the lift(s). Next project for me is to make the sliding doors for the soffit storage shelves.

Power is on! Spending the next few weeks getting the wiring run, compressor mounted outside, etc. Finished up the lawn tool/mower room today! Just have to pull the tape and remount the outlet plates. The JD ztr should like sleeping in there.

Considering I have no idea what I'm doing nor have I ever worked with concrete before I'd say I'm pretty happy with it. I'll post the other pics in a few

SO....mower parking spot is done:

Found a local place to bend up 12g steel for my countertops. Going to head to HF shortly and pickup a few of those 44" tool boxes....I'm thinking 3 will be plenty. After that it's on to making a frame for them, doing something for the wall behind (pegboard?) and installing some cabinets and wall lockers to put everything behind a door.

Poured the pad outside for the compressor, ran wiring. This weekend I'll mount it up and wire it, build the enclosure, and run some copper air line inside. Given that I've never messed with concrete before, and have no idea what I was doing (save for getting edumacated via you tube) I'm pretty happy how it turned out. I've paid someone for worse work that is for sure.

It's 3x3 which I thought would be plenty. Now that it's done I'm wishing I would have made it 4x4. Oh well....going to wrap the enclosure in tin so if it needs to be removed to gain access it shouldn't be a huge deal.

A more exciting note.....got permission to buy a cnc plasma table :)
