The hose reel that the wife had out front was like most plastic reels that is sold, flimsy, lightweight and a pain to reel the hose in. I had a concrete saw in the back of the truck this week and a broken 2" concrete air condionioner pad. I also had a pretty decent spare hand crank hose reel.( Made locally by the way)
I gave it a quick paint job with a 'pleasing environmentally green look' and mounted it to the reduced size concrete pad.
I don't think it looks much worse than any other hose reel and there is plenty of bushes and shrubs to hide it from street view. With its weight it doesn't take much effort to wind the hose up now. She's as about as pleased as when I got her an old fire hydrant for the backyard. (A free yard sale pickup.) I wonder if I can get her to accept this as her birthday present.
