is there a programmable thermostat for a 2 wire heat only ( modine hot dog ) that will let me set the on/off temp so i can let the unit run a bit longer between heat cycles ?

my basic unit on the wall just a 20 buck slider is o.k. but now i am switching to more this over wood heat i would like a longer cycle time .

heater is about 5 ft off the wall hanging from ceiling . its another 40ish foot to end of shop . current thermostat is off the side 10-15 ft away and behind the heater so no direct hot air hitting it and its around 5ft off the shop floor .

Huh?

Longer cycle time=more heat

Just turn the thermostat up

Edit: reading again it sounds like you want a wider deadband.

shop is well insulated and doors also with new seal trim outside around them . newer doors and windows .

I'm not sure what you are trying to accomplish ? My hanging Modine gas heater at my business probably only runs 7 or 8 minutes when it come on.

Like PC asked, how long is it between cycles ?

I'm kind of dealing with this now. I put a Honeywell t87 in my house instead of some old square Honeywell I had before.

The old one had the anticipator bypassed (non adjustable) and gave me about 1 cycle per hour in ~20* weather. This T87 has the anticipator set to the maximum, should be the same as bypassed, and it seems like it runs quite a bit more often.

-For digital, I know the PRO1 IAQ thermostats I sometimes install have an adjustable temperature swing.

prob a good 20-30 min .
That is just about how the one at my business runs. 30 x 60 warehouse unit with 15 ft roof. Depends on how cold it is outside but the burner probably runs for 5-10 minutes and then it shuts off for a while. Its been like that for the entire 24 years I have been there.

I would think that increasing the run time is just going to make for a bigger temperature swing ? That would annoy me more.
