Thermostat Wiring problem...

So I installed a Sensi thermostat on my house a few years ago. Never used the heat!!

Tried to use it today, and doesn't work. Both upstairs & downstairs (split heat pump system), so it must be the wiring.

A/C works great, but the Heat pump does not turn on at all. When I turn up the heat, the thermostat clicks, blower motor runs, but the compressor never turns on.

What could be wrong with the wiring? Anybody have experience with this?

So many possibilities.

How about this first...go into your Sensi app, find "About Thermostat" and verify your Indoor and Outdoor Configurations so we know for sure it is set up for heat pump operation?

If it is, then you need to go to the outdoor unit while it is calling for heat pump heat, and first verify with a meter that there is a 24V signal on Y (likely the yellow wire) to the contactor.

Pics of the wiring at the thermostat with it removed, pics of the indoor unit control board wiring, pics of the wiring at the outdoor unit....all of this would greatly speed up the process of finding you a resolution.

I mean, a rodent could have chewed through a wire at outdoor unit. A weed wacker could have damaged wiring at the outdoor unit. As I said, so many possibilities....
