Thermostat Wiring

I'm in the process of running wiring for a heater and thermostat before I insulate my ceiling.

There is an existing hole with a 120V, 12-2 conductor going down to an outlet, can I put the thermostat wire through that same hole or should I drill a new hole strictly for the thermostat wire?

Thermostat wire I'm using is 18 ga.

Thanks

Usually speaker wire or cable you don't want to do that to. But t-stat there isn't anything for the power to interfere with

That's what I thought, interference, but I couldn't think of how it would cause interference with the thermostat.

Thanks again.

I would put it in a different stud cavity. With digital thermostats and digital controls on all units now. I would not take the chance on something as easy as moving it over one space before you sheetrock the walls. No cost about 2 minutes time now. Do it.

This, on a garage heater it probably won't matter but a bit of separation won't hurt, I would run at least a 4 conductor wire as well, that will give you a common to power a digital stat and the ability to run the fan separately if your unit has that feature.
