The "Do It Best" hardware store in my town has a new display pushing these and C-lock socket sets among other C-lock tools I don't recall seeing before. I didn't look at the wrenches but what I did look at was Taiwan. Like all of C-lock's stuff it definitely has a nice, quality look to it.

Yeah they straight pushed their brand and Gearwrench right off the shelves and into a 25% off bin to make room for CL. Wrenches look pretty damn quality. Not USA stuff but if it's comparable to Carlyle then I thought other people might have info or want to know.

I work at a Do It Best hardware, and all the gearwrench and Do It Best brand stuff is going away is is being replaced with Channellock brand. There are all sorts of sockets and wrenches available, 1/4, 3/8, 1/2, and 3/4 drive stuff. The other store that belongs to the same owner as the one I work for has a new 16' section of it. Seems pretty decent, all of it that I looked at was COO Taiwan.

Its obviously junk. Not only are they made in Taiwan, but they have that awful v jaw design that always fails. Everyone knows the arch is the strongest design since Roman Times. That's why Snap On wrenches aren't V jaws. These will break the first time you use them....

That was sarcasm. Typical comments you see on tools like these.

They look good to me actually. They have 72 tooth mechanism like the original Gearwrench. My only question, is the non slip open end just the V jaw design or is there an opti torque type design in the jaw? If not, is the $80 price tag worth paying when you can have GW for 1/2 that??

It is do it best new hard line. No one was buying the import DIB branded stuff, so the DIB brains worked to get a respectable brand to bring in. C-lock has been expanding their line for a while (code red...) and viola...pretty decent quality stuff at decent prices, lifetime warranty (satisfaction guarantee if you read the packages) and we DIB stores finally have a decent tool hard line to sell. Win for us and customers.

Would love to see DIB bring in SK, but I know it'll never happen and I'd it did they bring in the wrong items and leave the stiff people want unavailable.

I would say they are rebadged Sunex Ratcheting wrenches.

Search for Sunex ratcheting wrenches and you'll see images of wrenches with the same modified non slip open end. Although Sunex doesn't seem to mess with the color coding.

I like that they're Taiwan made instead of PRC made and they might give Gearwrench competition but, at that price point the something for nothing bunch will head to harbor freight :wtf:

Your local DIB can order SK, its a DIB Vendor. SK was the oem on DIB branded sockets for a long time before Danaher. Currently DIB leases the Channelock name and has them contract manufactured in Taiwan and China. All the DIB branded handtools are being done away with.
