Thexton / Thexton Mfg. Co., 6539 Cecilia Circle, Edina, MN 55439 (previously 7685 Parklawn Ave., PO Box 35008, Minneapolis, MN 55435)(7019 Oxford St., Minneapolis, MN 55426 - 1976) / https://www.thexton.com/ / est. 1907 / specialty automotive tools / https://www.thexton.com/history.php /

The company's website has a pretty good write-up of their history.

Thexton's 2020 catalog is available for download at their website.

Thexton is an old company that always tried to stay ahead of the curve with innovative "fix it" products and specialty automotive tools that saved time and headaches.
As I recall, they were one of the first companies that offered a T-15 "Torx" screwdriver when G.M. (in their infinite wisdom) determined that the tried-and-true Phillips screw wasn't any longer suitable for mounting headlight rims to the front ends of automobiles.

It was easy to write an order, as their prepaid freight minimum was only a few hundred bucks - it didn't take a lot of battery and anti-freeze testers to add up to a minimum order.

Here are a few catalog pages from their 1976 catalog. When I get the rest of the catalog scanned, I'll see it gets uploaded at the ITCL and made available for download.

I'll try to dig up some of my Thexton auto tools. Have for many years known about and bought these items. Now a days the only source seems to be the fleas and auction sites. That Super Punch is in my motorcycle repair bag, I think.

I have some Thexton stuff here and there in my garage. I’ve gotten plenty of use out of my Full-Fielder, as you can see.

Interesting.

Over the 25 years I spent as an auto mechanic (ending last spring) I bought many of their products off of the Snap-on truck. Lots were bought in the early 90’s when carburetor specialty tools were still necessary. I always found them to be decent quality.

I guess I was either unaware or had forgotten that they were a local (to me) company. In fact the shop I was at for the last ten years was only five miles from their address listed above.

Looking through that catalog I was just saying how many of those tools I have or have used. Even found one in there I did not know of previously, searched and just bought in on ebay.

Their tools are clever and solve problems for sure.

I still have some Thexton tools, primarily ignition test adapters. Their HEI adapter was very popular back in the day.
