Thin Wall Impact Sockets...Recommendations?

With Father's Day coming up, I have to think of a few gift suggestions.

Here's the background: Years ago, we (all in my family) agreed to create wish lists on Amazon to provide suggestions for gifts. Although there are no surprises, there are no unwanted surprises.

I decided that impact sockets would be good. I need sets of metric & standard, deep well & standard depth, and a good quality brand.

One of my problems with impact sockets is that the walls are to thick for some applications. Can you guys & gals give me recommendations for thin wall, impact sockets that are the best bang for the buck?

I've wanted to try these Tone sockets, seems like the best of all worlds.

They're thin wall, impact ready, and plated so they won't rust (which...most my heavily used sockets are since black oxide doesn't do anything against rust).

They're not cheap though, and you'll have to run around to find some part numbers and order them all from Japan.

There's a few sellers listing on Amazon that sell Tone on other sites, you'd have to press them to list them I'm guessing. Maybe that's more work than your family wants though.

Try Astro lugnut sockets with removal le plastic sleeve other than that maybe a good set of chrome since they are thin walled

Just remember, thin wall means they will crack/break more easily under heavy torque. Only use them where clearance requires it.

If you really need a thin wall impact socket then I'll 2nd the Grey Pnuematic Duo Sockets suggestion

All,

A little more background. For 35+ years, I've used C-Man regular sockets for my impact needs. Yes, using regular sockets on an impact is a NO-NO. However, with thousands of impacts, I only broke 2 in that time, and easily had them replaced with USA made sockets.

Now, when I replace one of my C-Man USA tools, there is a likelyhood that it will be Chinese. So, now may be a good time to get some impact sockets.

I'm sort of confused about thin wall need if you've never used impacts?

the best thin wall stuff is likely apex, but your looking for multiple cheap sets and you are looking for amazon and a budget

those don't really mix, if you need lots of coverage+afforable buy Sunex on amazon. if you have a genuine need for strong+thinwall, maybe look into Proto on sale at Zoro 30% off (but that's not amazon and timing uncertain).

Snap on has thin walls if you need it (1/4 and 3/8 drive), but they are not super durable. Maybe get a spec sheet and compare williams...have not checked them myself.

If you're not willing to spend, then you should just keep using chromes + safety goggles.

My thin walls for my 1/2 impact are snap-on 3/8 drive impact sockets & their heavy duty adaptor. My set goes all the way up to 1" & 24mm.

This. I wore a snap on 19mm impact out and broke it in about a month and a half. Only use them when you need the clearance. They will break. There's a reason impacts are thick
