An older gentleman I know invited me to his house today to dig through an old blacksmith shop that had collapsed about 20 years ago on his property. He is in his mid 90s and said most of this stuff belonged to his grandfather. The highlight of what I got was the old post vise and the belt driven drill press. Right when we had pulled the first few items out my wife called and said I needed to get back to work since she had to go pick up our son. The 3 big things I saw out there still remaining was a larger anvil (face looked to be in perfect shape), a large table looking forge, and a Coke ice box. He said i could have the anvil and forge but then he started talking a lot about his grandfather so idk if that's still on the table or not.

nice vise! (y)

the Coca-Cola cooler might be a keeper. I saw one of those rigged up on a small trailer at a car show somewhere... all gussied up and re-painted, being pulled by a 50s vintage car with a matching two-tone paint scheme.

Idk if I am going to be able to get that cooler. The more he was talking the more sentimental he got about it.

The vise is a Columbia Hardware looks to be right over 5". Surprisingly it wasn’t seized up. I was able to unscrew it by hand then covered the screw in wd40. After screwing in and out a few times it really freed up. Next up I got to figure out how I am going to dissolve the rust off of it.
