Getting ready to do the wiring on my garage addition. Would like to hear what people would of added or done differently. I just added a 24x40 section to my 32x32, the new section will be mostly for parking in not a lot of work on that side more of a "man cave".

I have already started putting boxes every 4' 48.5" off the ground going to do some cat5, cable, and speaker wire. looking for other neat ideas.

I wish I would have added a switch to the outlet where my compressor is plugged into so that I could just turn it off when I turned off the lights.

I would put your boxes above or below the sheet (48") so you only have to cut one of the sheets of wallcovering...not both.

Motion sensor light switch on the far side or areas where you might forget to turn off the lights. Plug for electric on demand water heater near the sink...220v if you have it. 110v receptacles near the exterior doors for retractable extension cords. 110v receptacles in the ceiling for drop extensions cords, powered wireless speakers, fans, air cleaners, or wireless internet. That's all I got :)

Extra conduit for low voltage stuff. Ethernet, phone lines, coax cable, etc.

I missed slightly on the placement of a few outlets, but I didn't have the benches on hand when I was running electrical. One or two outlets are right behind a bench leg. oops.

As for the outlets, I found that it was easier to tape and mud when the box wasn't in the way of the tape. Plan out your box locations and drywall schedules so the boxes end up away from a drywall edge. Granted I did the mud myself, not sure what a pro would say.
