Never had a huge exposure to them other than a couple truck vendors, but always passed them over for the shinier Snap-on or other offerings. Once I read about the hand forging I started to appreciate the somewhat crude finish. I don't see a lot of them around though. Is it people just hang onto them or did they just not bother to flood the market out west? Still see the trucks occasionally.

I don't find much Mac in the wild in the PNW at all, although like you, I do see the trucks, in places as small as Missoula.

Of the reasonably notable tool outfits, I would put Mac (vintage or modern alike) in the very very scarce in the PNW category, along with Cornwell, Herbrand, Vlchk. Just one collector's experience, thats all.

Hell I don't find much Sabina marked Mac, or the other 3 brands...and I'm in Ohio where they were all made!! Same with Lectrolite.

I do have 2 larger Sabina Mac DBEs that I like the crude look of (1"+1-1/16", 1-1/8"+1-1/4") but never seen any others like them.

I figured if it looks used but not bent to ****, it's worth a spot in my box I take with me to junkyards. These were the two first MAC tools I owned, and they just happened to be what I needed, so they were/are in regular use. Good quality. I really like the 1/2-9/16's combo, I use it almost every time I work on cars. Flexes a little too much, but has never bent.
Also in my box is a 6-point X-86 3/8's drive, 1/4" socket in good condition, says Sabina as well. Too small to take a good picture of.

I am a Function > Form guy, and also find something unique in good, but ugly tools.

Hello Woody,
Thank you for the PM and the excellent bit of history you did on Mac. I actually bought a 1/2" combo off the bay last year because of the two lines design which I like. Also have a newer fully polished 1/2 X 9/16 DBE off one of the trucks, but that's the extent of my Mac wrenches. I think I see more in my future. Thanks again.

Hi DD,
I could post a photo, but I bought the DBE sometime in the 2000s, basically new production. Nice wrench, but definitely not vintage.
