I picked this up from a guy I was warned about. 2 ton Dayton Electric hoist. 120v or 240V. I was told to be careful of what he sells you as it might not "be as presented." I was told it worked and I knew it seemed kind of cheap, but I figured I'd roll the dice and take my chances. It didn't work. I blew the tips off the 120v plug when I plugged it in the first time. After I replaced the well worn plug I did get it to work, well sort of. It wouldn't go all the way to the top. In my reasoning, I figured the chain was started "out of place." I ran it off the hoist, ran the hoist a while figuring if I turned the spool long enough I could start it back and make up the difference. Wrong. Then my older electrician buddy stopped over and we tore into it. The screws were seized, I beat them out of the end cover without breaking the housing; because of a lack of tools after the fire. We found a loose ground wire "floating", and few other "hay-wired" wires; you know, twisted and taped up. Then I broke out the computer and found a little more info about the limit switches inside. In the end, the switches were out of adjustment because the start wheel to adjust them are worn out. I by passed the limit switches; I know bad idea. I figured I should be able to tell when the chain block gets to the hoist I might want to stop and when the block has 20 feet of chain laying on the ground I might want to stop going in the down position. It's working fine so far. I'll see if I can locate the replacement parts and fix it like it should be, if not I'll live with it like it is. I don't have $4000.00 for another new one right now.
