Nice shop. The desert location explains the swamp cooler - they work like gangbusters in low humidity areas. Any lift is a good lift IMHO.

I don't feel like doing anything at 43F either. We put on jackets here at 60F when those Yankees are still swimming in their pools. Of course, when they come down here in the summer we have to pack them in ice so they don't melt when it's 110 in the shade and the driveway concrete is over 150.

Yup sounds like our weather.
And 43 is inside the shop. 47 five minutes ago.

It's been below freezing outside every day and the snow is still on the ground from three days ago.
In weather like this I would rather sit in my office, nice and warm, with a warm computer than do the fiberglass work I need to be doing.

Very nice shop! At first glance I though those boxes were part of a 1:24 scaled diorama. :)

The light colored floor appears to help in light distribution and I like the idea of a white board.

Yeah, no they are full sized, my wife says over sized...

The epoxy does make the shop brighter.

The white board is essential, I think, at least at my age.

I use it most every job.
Great for everything from bearing numbers to call the parts house, to 'the red wire was spliced to the green wire' or the 'pointed end goes up'.
Also good for listing to do stuff, schematics, costs, etc.

I'm sorry, it's a VLB6-3, but the reason you couldn't find it, it's OLD.

Perfect shape, works perfectly, but it was built years ago, I think the 90's
.
USA made. I got it from a guy that used it about twice a year, had it in a 2100 square foot finished garage. Got all the original paperwork with it.

It was reasonable (500 bucks loaded on my truck) but it needed one intermediate step.
Found the part online and also had to replace the four dowels.
Roughly 25 bucks worth of parts total.

I had considered one of the lower priced HF lifts, after I knew I didn't like the Bendpak 60P.

I even went down to order one. That's when I found they had stopped offering the 849 dollar one that week. The 1049 dollar one was too tall and besides, I'm cheap.

Friend put me on to this one, used but nice, and I snapped it up.

One nice thing about the Rotarys like this one, you can take them apart with a single wrench, down to easy to lift pieces, carry it in even a small truck, then put it together again very quickly.

Thanks, and as to spent on tool boxes, um, not much.

I had/have a hobby of buying cheap tool boxes, cleaning them up, doing maintenance and then selling them for a tad more. The boxes are all paid for from receipts from the hobby. These were the boxes I really liked and decided to keep.

I have less in all 15 boxes in the shop than the list price on the Mac Tech 1000 on the end.

The shop looks nice, with some serious storage.

One question though, 4 grand for a ceiling ? I have about 700 in my ceiling, a bit smaller (22x24) but that includes the 2x6 rafters and R-19.

I was thinking the same, my 16x24 ceiling was about $500 in materials, including insulation, vapour barrier, drywall. Even if you are paying someone, probably won't be more than $2000.

On the costs, things you guys aren't adding in;
15 recessed lights.
Winch and drop lights.
That equals 18 plus reasons it can't just be flat, but more important, I have only an 8 foot ceiling. So any ceiling comes out of that 8 feet...

To keep my rather needed eight foot I would have to put the ceiling in 'above' the rafters, something that is possible, but hard to do.
Or give up using the upper eight or ten inches of my shop, with a low ceiling and lights I almost bump my head on. That would be about 2000 bucks, or a tad more.
Since I can't do that myself, working one handed, I would have to pay permits plus Southern California prices.
The four grand was from the cheap guy...

Putting it to code means dropping the lights down till they threaten the top of the trucks, or paying BIG bucks to recess them, plus I would have to add lots of lights. At my age, I need it bright.
