Jesus.Maria!! I stopped by a tire discounter last week to get rid of some old tires and they had a car jacked up with 4 jacks with all 4 tires off of it and NO jack stands underneath it! I thought if OSHA stop by they would be in big trouble!:wtf:

Right, you don’t need to crawl under the car to remove a wheel.

I have seen tire shops lift a truck by putting a floor jack on each side behind the front wheels, and a third jack under the rear diff, but nobody went underneath the truck

I have done that a lot. Much quicker than messing around w/ stands. If I am going under then I spend the time to use stands.

I have done that with my car. I have only 3 jacks. Helps when setting jack stands to have the car level. Setting with one end down and one up and then raising the down end pivots the chassis on the stands that are in place.

Used to go to a tire shop back in the 70's 80's that used 2 floor jacks at opposite corners and than at a guy would lift the low corner and another would put a block of wood to keep the car level. Kulle's in Spring Valley NY

The tire shop where the company I work for bought tires from used to do that. When you drove up, you'd better be getting your *** out of the truck....cause in a few seconds you had to jump! Every time I had to go get tires, I'd call em a different name. One time they were The Wood Brothers, next time, Rainbow Warriors, etc.

seen that a lot around here.

I really dont like using the rear diff as a jacking point but most of the time its all you can do. One of my Jeeps has an aluminum D44HD and I never use it as a jacking point. Rumor is it flexes the housing and ruins the gear alignment. Its tough getting jack stands under the axle.
