Hello All:
I am thinking about installing Racedeck in the garage. The previous owners of my home installed an epoxy coat on half of the floor. Why they chose to only do half is beyond me. Probably because it is like everything else they touched in the house, completely half rearended to be polite about it. Anyway, I am trying to figure out the best way to approach this. The epoxy looks OK, but if you get anything on it then it becomes slicker than greased owl mess.
I assume there wouldn't be any issue to install Racedeck over the floor in its current condition? I do work on my car in the garage and am prone to dropping small pieces so I think the traditional Racedeck would probably be the better route for me. Also with the two tone floor currently if I used the FreeFlow then you would be able to see the mismatched floor underneath. The car does leak fluids right now so that is somewhat a concern as well. Not sure how well the Racedeck holds up to that or if there is a good absorbant mat of somekind I could lay under the car until I get far enough along in the restoration to take care of the leaks.
In addition to that, the step up near the entry into the house will still be two toned unless I install Racedeck up there as well. But then what do I do with the face of the ledge?
Would I be best off to strip the epoxy coating from the garage floor before installing anything else?
I still have to repaint everything in the garage, but trying to get this big part figured out first so I know where to go from here.
Thanks in advance!
