Thinwall Spark Socket

Anyone ever seen such a beat - 13/16 Thinkwall Socket.
Was scouring my drawers for those freebee hex sockets - plumbers wrench style....

Went to fog the engine on my LCT engine - Husqvarna 300 series snowblower. My 13/16 was literally right up against the valve cover but I managed.

local motorcycle parts shops usually keep the thinwall spark plug sockets in stock for just this reason. My 2003 triumph requires one, impossible with out the extra deep, thin wall.

Motion pro and others make them.

I looked at and thought about tossing the one that came with my powerwasher just a couple of hours ago. Then I got to thinking just as soon as I do I'll get stuck in the same situation as you and put it on the shelf. Hopefully I'll never need it but if I do I know it's here somewhere.

The garden section at most box stores have spark plug sockets that are formed to fit one on each end, they come with a bar to turn them. less than $10.00 probably made in Taiwan, Husqvarna scrench may be made in Germany.

Thanks for the Koken link. I looked around.....and just short of the usual stamped sheetmetal, there did not seem to be anything else on the market except for the Koken !

Can vouch for the Koken ZEAL spark plug socket. It's listed as 20.8mm.

The 20.8mm is on the left. 26.3mm outside diameter, if you want to check/compare your existing plug socket with a caliper.

Thx GG. Is the 26.3 the widest part on the socket end ? As I know it's tapered/smaller shaft from the head itself.

I make my own very thin walled sockets using my bench grinder. I needed a thin wall for my Triumph motorcycle some years ago. 15-20 minutes on the grinder and I had one. Needed a thin wall 5/8 for cast rocker arms a few years ago - few minutes on the grinder with a spare socket and I had one. Simple and easy.

Thx GG. Is the 26.3 the widest part on the socket end ? As I know it's tapered/smaller shaft from the head itself.

According to Koken's published specifications, that is the widest diameter of the plug end. The drive end is tapered and much smaller in diameter. I can double check with calipers on mine this evening.

Zeal socket came in.It's a nice socket...

With the spark finger tight, just a test fit with the zeal - the fat part of the socket still is a bit of work (metal on metal) getting it fitted past the valve cover. Once it's in, I'm good though. It's a keeper of a socket regardless. Probably will just put a wrap of tape on the outside, which will make it even more tighter - we'll see how this works the next time I'm using it.
