This is a very easy build. I had some friends who were asking me about these so I threw together a little video. These things are super helpful to have a around. These are primarily meant for small projects, but you'd be surprised how often these things can come in handy regardless of how big of the project.

Anybody have any helpful customizations to these things?

I used 1/4'' round stock, I think I may have described the build and the materials used in the video.

Nice and handy Jimbo. I built a third hand in 1978 when I bought my first tig welder. I didn't spend as much time as you have in your video but they are great to have on the welding bench.

There is a version where the weight can slide up and down the shaft to vary the down force. Also, copper braid around the area that touches the table may help with current return.
