This drill press any good?

The last drill press I posted a few weeks ago fell through so I'm back to looking, this one is close so I wouldn't spend a fortune on diesel going to get it. This is really all I would like to spend on one right now as I plan on getting a nice mill in a year or so.
Should I go pick it up?

I'm no expert, I'd try for $150-200 and try to get the vise included. Make sure the lift table works good because if it breaks...

I don't know about you're area but if you sell it when you get your mill you should be able to pretty much get your money back. Maybe even at $250?

Ask what the slowest speed is (if you plan on drilling metal)...

Not the best in my opinion. Price isn't great either.

I think it's a good enough drill press.
I'd love to have it, if I didn't already have a Shopsmith 10ER, which
does enough for my DP needs, as well as a GMC cheapie.

However, $250 is INSANE for that... IMO anyway.
That's no Powermatic or Clausing, or even a Jet or Rockwell/Delta.
More like $100=125 is what I'd give for it.

I think too many people on Ebay or Craigslist get the "my item is "vintage" and I'm gonna get a whole lot of money for this" mentality.

Or, they 'gave' some large amount of money when they bought something, owned it for years, and somehow think they're entitled to get almost all of that money back when they go to sell it used.

That DP didn't sell for $250 when it was new.

I figure that if something is really vintage according to professional collectors and museums, and that piece of equipment has also been completely restored with all worn parts replaced, everything greased and reconditioned to like-new state, then it's worth "vintage" pricing.

But just because something is old and allegedly "vintage" doesn't automatically mean it's worth the kind of money that guy is asking.

Offer $100-150 including that vice, and you might be on target.

I'd put a piece of drill stock into the chuck and check it for runout before
handing over money though...

There are drill presses, and then there are drill presses.

What are you planning to drill? If it's just wood, this drill press will be fine, but I agree, it is overpriced.

If you're planning to drill large diameter holes in metal, you'll want something a lot larger with slower speeds.

I recently paid $1500 for a lightly used 20" clausing with a power downfeed. It weighs almost 1000 lbs, is still made in the USA, and costs about $6000 optioned out new. In my opinion, THAT is a drill press.

That's why I asked first, thanks everybody!
I'll offer him $150 and see what he says, I would use it for metal but won't be drilling 1" holes very often unless in thinner stuff with hole saw.
I'm building up my little shop and this is next on the list. I don't need anything massive right now, even though it would be nice to have but I don't want one that's just big enough to piss me off either. The lowest speed on that one is 200rpm.

It's a decent machine. If it ran well and I needed a press, I would probably top out at $220. If I was selling I wouldn't take $150. Just saying.

I would keep looking for an older USA made machine if I was you.

All the other ones in your area seem pretty high priced for what they are. I would still check this one out of you wanted a serious machine.

However if you were looking for a tool box this looks like a good deal. Yea I was just browsing your CL.

The second one is an import, probably Taiwanese. I sold one recently in much better condition, for $125, and felt like I got top dollar. (this is on the left coast FWIW)
