Thanks for the welcomes!
A little bit about myself: I enjoy working with my hands and doing the work myself rather than hiring a contractor. I keep my cars running, my house standing, and my garden growing. I also dabble in metal smithing, wood working, and beer making when I can carve out a little time.
My garage is a two-car attached unit that is showing its age and has too much useless stuff taking up too much room. I started a general garage makeover by sorting, selling, and tossing. Now, I can park my Spider in the garage and I even have enough room around it to work on it! I am gradually transforming this space into a versatile and useable place that my wife and I can enjoy. I've been gathering many great ideas on how to accomplish this goal since I have been reading these forums.
Tool preferences? Well, I keep the cars running with my Craftsman tools that I have had for at least 25 years. I prefer quality tools, of course, and would rather spend a little more for a tool that will be a joy to use and get the work done properly. Recently, I've been haunting junk stores and pawn shops looking for the odd USA-made older hand tools.
I've found it harder to stick to made-in-the-USA when it comes to power tools. I try to go with name brands and I rely on product reviews so that I wind up with machines that will make the work easier while being safe and reliable.
Thanks again. I'll try to keep the Board posted on my continued garage improvement efforts.
