nothing there is really "Industrial"... reminds me of when Cman tried to sell through indie dealers back in the early half of this decade - didn't work out too well, imo. We offered Cman "industrial/professional" at the old shop, didn't have "industrial" stamp on anything, was pointless due to sears selling retail Cman lower than we could get it... sold a **** load of armstrong though. it's just marketing.

nice to see the polished USA pro combos available though. too bad NOS sets at sears are priced at 1/2 of what grainer seems to think they can sell a single wrench for...

I would be very interested to compare a $30 raised panel to a $3 raised panel... the stuff we could sell was the absolute same as what sears offered, at double the price point. people would look at us sideways when we tried to peddle the ****. was nice to be able to order black oxide pieces though... gawd.

soooooooooo, they brought back the "industrial" name, charge 5x the price and call it good? sweet, i want a job as a procurement officer and tell my bosses I'm also worth 5x what the going rate is. seems like a way to squeeze some $$$ out of national accounts/corp/gov.

Now, if the quality/metal/finish/etc... is different, maybe they are worth the extra $$$, but as i stated earlier - the cman we could sell as an indie repair shop/service center was teh exact same as what sears offered, but our direct pricing was higher than most of retail at sears...

Grainger is always expensive. Their deal is getting employees in their, buying stuff on the company dime, which is always credit. An employee doesn't care what the cost is, and is often actually happier buying a more expensive tool.
That is why I buy all my employee truck tools for them, at harbor freight. That way, when it gets lost, I can make them feel guilty, and go get another cheap one.

you have to figure that each price is priced to be discounted.

so a 20 dollar wrench will probably cost about 10-25% lower then the asking price.

In defense of Grainger, I can find specific tools A LOT EASIER on Grainger's site than Craftsman's site (not the same as Sears). Craftsman needs a new web designer.

Visually, from what I can see in the online pics; all the tools look the same, as the stuff that is being sold in the stores. Aside from the stamping "industrial"; maybe, Sears is trying to emphasize the industrial tool channels. They seem to be ramping up tool marketing in other areas... why not industrial as well? Years ago; they had a "industrial" catalog and much of it was 3rd party stuff, that would apply to pro/industrial applications... alas, they dumped the industrial division and the cat. From what I remember; it was a casualty of a attempt to return to profitability through reorganization and later Kmart bought out Sears.... bleah!
