I am 95% sure most of you know the difference between the two styles of Torx T and Torx IP but for the 5% of dummies like me the following video is very useful; because some of you will be thinking like me, hey why is that torx key that I am using so lose in the screwhead?

Anyhow I thought some of you might like the following video: This is not a Torx by Haas Automation inc.

Been searching online for a set of these Torx Plus.

There is plenty of info but really nothing as far as a set or sets specifically for the Torx Plus. :dunno:

If anyone reading this thread knows of a brand and or website that offers specifically Torx Plus sets....I would appreciate it if you would please post about it here on this thread.

Basically the type of Torx Plus set that I am specifically looking for is one that also come's with a handle.

Thanks in advance!

Cute it's from Haas, I just worked on one of their machines the other day, the screws holding the way covers were Torx,
all except one, which was a SHCS(Allen). Every other machine I work on has SHCS in those same places.
More tools to buy.

Reading a description specifically about these sets (on another website) it states that these are a product of Taiwan. :dunno:

I'm sure Snap-on or Mac also carry them if you don't want ones from Taiwan. They will just cost a little more.

Probley 10 years ago I bought OTC's master torx set. I needed a t55 plus to remove a seat from an 06 f350. This was long before I'd even heard of garage journal and I figured if I need that one bit now I'll need more ofem in the coming future.
Since then I've found the set useful as those plus fasteners show up here and there and having the ETorx bits was handy replacing the rear wiper motor on my wife's escape.

I guess MAC sells Torx + in their socket drivers in their "RBRT" series?
(I know they do in regular Torx)
I guess the man in the video could have mentioned the importance of making sure the bit goes all the way into the hole/socket in the screw head and might need to clean it out
there are even more such gizmo drivers such as Ribe !! (See "F10RBE" on Snap On site)

On the big stuff, it's usually pretty obvious. It's like when I see a 3/8 on a car, and my brain says "what's wrong with that 10mm bolt head?". Now, a t8? IDK how one would ever tell the difference.

Torx plus, internal and external, is like ***********. Hard to define, but I know it when I see it.

As of right now it looks like either Lisle or VIM are the cheapest set(s) to buy for Torx Plus for the money $ due to the fact both manufacturer's tools are made in Asia (Taiwan, Vietnam, etc.)

That is "if" your not willing to spend big $ for a tool that you may not use as often.

Though if your going to be using Torx Plus on basically an everyday process then I would highly recommend spending the big $ on a very good high quality Torx Plus set.

Just my $0.02

The problem I have with most YouBoob videos is that it takes five minutes to tell you the same info you get by glancing at this diagram for a few seconds.

I ran into Torx Plus for the first time last year separating a bell housing from a General Motors transmission. Haven't need it again since but if I do then I have a set dagnabit. Of course what is going to happen is that it will be something like external torx plus which I don't have........ yet.

per Ben at KC Tool in Kansas City, this is the best deal he's got this week:
$36.60 out the door:

looks like with individual bits the best choice may well be VIM.

I don’t think Volkswagen has used both of those type on the same vehicle yet. Right now their favorite is to use both torx and triple square. Only a matter of time before they get all 3 on one car though.
Those jokers at VW. . .
I have an '03 Beetle that I swapped the motor on. IIRC, I needed 5 types of tools, ignoring the myriad sizes. It was ridiculous. Phillips, torx, triple square, 6 point, 12 point, maybe etorx too? It was nuts.
So yeah, VW will be on torx plus ASAP.

As I remember it only took 4 bolts, a couple of cables and hoses to change the motor on a Beetle. Oh, wait that was a 63 :)

Wiha has anything you could want in Torx Plus. T-handles are no problem either as they have those too. McMaster-Carr carries them. They have rather sissy looking green handles.

Torx Plus has been around for at least 15 years, if not longer. Ford has used them on commercial vehicles since at least 2005, if not earlier. It's nothing new.
