I would love to have this thing, although the dog holes might cause me to lose a lot of stuff.

My BIL once gave me one that was more modern (made 30 years ago) but similar. He put those holes all over the top and put those orange Black & Decker Workmate slugs in them. They worked together with the two Pony clamps he had buried in the table top. Really quite slick.

Those do look quite familiar from my high-school woodshop where I grew up in rural Switzerland. The ‘bench dogs’ had a steel spring to hold them in place and were real finger-traps – especially for young-an-dum teenagers.

The parts cabinet looks like it was from a spinner (rotating parts drawers on a central vertical pipe) The wheel thingy is a large brass electrical meter.

I have one of these waiting for me at my parents house. It was my grandfather's workbench, and my dad inherited it when Grandpa passed. At some point, hopefully a long time from now, I will inherit it from my Dad.

I intend to clean it up and use it as a display piece in my family room. I have plenty of workbench space. Seeing it every day will remind me of Grandpa and Dad.

When I pass, it's going to my oldest Grandson.

Looks very similar to a workbench design that Norm Abrams built on The New Yankee Workshop.

I have the identical twin to that one in my Lower Garage. It is not mine but a good friend who had to sell his house during a divorce. I am keeping his tools safe.

The story behind it is it was his grand father's. He work for the rail road and it was his personal bench and he was allowed to keep it when he retired.

He added storage to the lower portion of the bench.

I'll see if I can get a pic of it tonight. Although it is covered with all of his tools.

That's a nice bench.
When I was a kid after school I sometimes watched one of the last working wheelwrights using one very similar.
A few days ago I saw one like it, in an antique shop, for £hundreds!! Pleased to see that it's valued, and not on a bonfire..

That's cool. You're a lucky guy for that!
