What a beautiful set, In perfect storage.
No skip, full range on what I guess is a combo tray/ rails?

Are they the only people listening or what? I'm thrilled someone did.

How do you guys like tekton sockets?

All three of their sets like this just made my list simply for the way the whole package is put together. Well and if the sockets compare with their ratchets it's a hell of a deal.

I have a buch of Tekton stuff and they are my go to when I need something. The trays are made by Ernst and available there or at Summit Racing. Summit doesn't carry all the Ernst stuff but what they do have is usually less money than buying directly from Ernst. (though I do buy from both)

After my older 1/4" drive mish-mash pissed me off for the last time, I recently bought their 1/4" drive set

So far VERY happy (as in, ZERO complaints) - also have their 3/4" drive breaker bar, needed a longer handle for some of the hydraulics on my Case 580

Haven't broken it yet, so (y)

Just for shits and giggles, I looked up the SnapOn equivalent to the 1/4" drive set, it was only about 12 TIMES the price. I just recently turned 78, only doing MY stuff these days (no need to impress ANYBODY but myself) so ANOTHER reason to smile... Steve

I really only read a couple folks that speak negative about Tekton. They're entitled to their opinion and I give the benefit of the doubt that their negatives are based on real experience. I do, however, suspect a lot of that is based on Tekton products sold in the past. They have handled some pretty stinky turds over the years. But I believe that thre majority of their current lineup (including ratchets, sockets and wrenches) is of decent quality backed by the best customer service I've ever encountered.

They've come a long ways from selling junk Chinese tools on tables set up in your local VFW hall.

I’ve been doing a lot of research and will likely be going with Tekton. I need to replace all my sockets after years of neglect, and instead of piecing everything together, I’ll buy a complete Tekton set. I have Snap On ratchets that’ll last me forever, so I just need this…

I love the Ernst rails. I think I got all mine from Tekton. Tekton's labels for these don't stick very well.

I like that Tekton will sell you a choice of several different kinds of storage/organization (or no organization) with their sets. Most other companies include throwaway organizers.

Even if we put the tools aside, Tekton does indeed do it right.

I think the consensus is that Tekton sockets are quite respectable.
That IS very nice storage and layout--if I didn't have what I needed already, I'd strongly consider that if I were starting from scratch.
Just the first time I've ever seen an actual complete set for sale. Let alone with storage that made sense.

I've been stocking a second location box. I started out kind of cheaping out on stuff, then couldn't resist getting a little better, then I thought, well I have two sons better make it even. Now I'm kind of like hmm, some of this may migrate to my main box in an exchange. I have a lot of high end but a lot is a mish mash, certain things only in 12pt, filled out a range with other brands, etc.

I saw this and thought , wow, it would be hard to fill out a no skip set in standard and deep covering this range, and add storage for under $200, even with the cheapest of tools.

I have tekton 3/8 drive socket sets, probably the same ones that are in that kit, on Ernst two-rail holders. If I recall, it was a shallow set and deep set, both containing both sae and metric, I put all the metric on one holder, the sae on the other. They replaced a mish-mash of stuff, mostly USA craftsman, but also random one offs, and mis-matched set of snap-on metric shorts. They're perfectly servicable, good chrome, good fit on fasteners, no complaints about them.

About like me, I have 6-7 brands in my current set.

Only sockets I've recently had complaints about are some crescent I used at a friend's place. I broke 2 and an extension in one evening on his car. Felt like I was trying to use the 1992 big lots ratchet set . Lol.

I wish I could tell every new tech to buy this set instead of going into debt with the Snap On truck. I bought a similar SK setup (metric only) back around 1998 and never felt the need to upgrade.

I even don’t mind some of their older stuff. I have a $40 set of Chinese angle wrenches from them that did amazing service for many years until I could get the better angle wrenches. I beat the hell out of them with hammers to loosen fittings. I still use them today to cut them down and modify to get to weird fittings in tight places.

My first set of wrenches was MIT (the mother of Tekton). They were decent wrenches. Bulky and not much to look at in a cheap plastic roll but it was all I could afford at the time and they worked for me for several years until I upgraded. I didn't baby them.

In my experience Ernst's own stickers don't stick well either- the plastic they use is pretty slippery.

I don't think I've ever seen a set of metric sockets that included a 20mm before o_O

This is a good point. The plastic is why the stickers don't stick. It's just "that kind" of plastic. Still, I'm finding those stickers everywhere. Dunno how they all got where they are. I was going through my M8 bolt bin and my fingers came out with a clump of numbers on them. :)

I swear I've used a 20mm. I couldn't believe it, but there it was. I forget where. But 23mm??

The trick is to buy them from Lowe’s if possible. Much easier to get Lowe’s GC for deep discount. There used to be Lowe’s coupon as well. Now the coupons are hard to get

here is a video with the same spirit

Funny the guy got so many harbor freight free tools that he no longer recommends hf tools. I am VERY jealous of the huge amount of good stuff he got from hf

OP listed Amazon for a source. Purchase direct from Tekton and get 10% of perchase price back as a credit to be used on your next purchase (a GJ member will always buy more tools)
Many Tekton products are also on Zoro and work with their 20% off coupons

I swear if the only place a 23 was ever used was a lugnut on a moon rover, someone would show up at my shop with a moon rover needing a wheel bearing.

It could be the mold release used...it may help to wipe them down with mineral spirits and or brake clean first. Mineral obviously if it's silicone based. Some plastics you even have to sweat the mold release out of by having it pretty toasty before wiping. Then again, some are just that bad.

If I had to build a box for new techs I'm thinking I'd probably throw in the set @vwtrey showed.
