First, hello everyone!

My first post here after more than a week of going through lot of the threads - wow, you guys really know this stuff! So much detailed work going in here.. And all I was going to do was to go to Home Depot and buy a kit and just roll that thing in my garage and voila, done. But then, I do a search and land on this forum and now I think I know way too much for my own good! :)

Now I am busy oggling at some of the garage pictures here, my fav is "Rick's Double Garage in Calgary, CAN" thread, me being an Audi fan makes me little biased though! Rick, if you are reading this, you should switch careers to become a garage consultant and help clueless folks like me!

So about my garage - it is a standard issue two car garage 24x20 with nothing done to it.. Been wanting to give it a makeover for some time now and finally starting the process..

I have read enough in this forum and still debating between epoxy, tiles, VCT tiles and Porcelains.. I went to bed yesterday night deciding it will be Porcelain, but woke up this morning thinking GarageTrek and I am sure I will wake up tomorrow with something completely different!

I am ruling out DIY epoxy, cas I am not handy and will mess it up for sure, but maybe I should give it a shot..
Professional epoxy is going to be expensive from what I read here (I do have a contractor coming in this week for a quote), so not sure if this is out of reach for me..
VCTs I am not comfortable with, somehow have this worry that the "sticker" would peel away!
Porcelains sound like a good option, have another tile contractor coming in this week for a quote on that. But in the back of my mind, I am still connecting tiles to bathrooms!
Tiles like RaceDeck et al, this might sound funny, but I am not sure these jazzy tiles will pass the minivan test - ie, can I park our minivan in a garage with these cool tiles? Something about that combination doesnt click!

So anyway, now you can see why I am confused! :willy_nil

Anyway, hello again everyone!

Cheers,

SB

Welcome to the forum and take your time learning about what you may want. By the way, I think any type of garage flooring would be an upgrade to your minivan, not the other way around. :bounce:

Chenthu,

I noticed you live in Ashburn, as do I. Send me a PM if you would like to take a look at the Rustoleum Professional Epoxyshield that I used on my floor. Not trying to sell you on epoxy but it might help you to see how looks and how it has held up (about 1 year old now). Also, I did TONS of research before tackling this and would be happy to share what I learned.

I am not worried about upgrading the minivan, concerned I will be downgrading the tiles! :D

Start searching!!

Yeah, been busy doing that and confusing myself more! :)

I noticed you live in Ashburn, as do I.

Thank you, PM sent..

I cant find much info on here on floor mats like http://www.costco.com/Taupe-7.5'-x-20'-VersaRoll-PVC-Flooring.product.100011176.html

Sounds so easy, any thoughts on these?

Welcome. I had the same issue when I found the forum. I realised I needed to do way more research before deciding what to do. You definitely came to the right place.
