Unfortunately not, as long as they have some sort of disclaimer, or are based somewhere out of North America where the laws there hold no sway. I know I've built Suicide Boxes for specific purposes (tying 2 EU-series generators together, or doing an emergency shunt to get a live circuty to power up a dead one), but man, talk about danger island? I don't even like using them, bu... well... Yeesh.

Loads for me.

I can not believe he doesn't put up a disclaimer, something to the affect, "May not meet electrical codes in your area, check with local codes before buying"

HAHAHAHA, this one takes the cake. double 5-15p to 10-30r. someone gonna plug that into 2 different 120v circuits that are either on the same phase in the panel, so it wont work, or different phases and trip the breakers when the heating coil turns on.... just plain stupidity here.. Ebay really needs to take this **** down

Love it. To quote the seller: ‘You can plug in to 2 different Generators. A Generator and a Power inverter. Generator and a house. Power inverter and a wall outlet.’

Set aside the *why?* and the *covered by whose insurance?* questions, go ahead and do exactly that - plug one phase into one source, then plug the other phase into a second unsynchronized source. Watch with wonder and amazement as the phase to phase voltage rises and falls between 120 and 240 as the two sources sync then drift apart, and all your 240 loads fault out. What a great idea!

That seller is selling chaos on a stick.

The scary part is the idiots that would buy and use these.

some of these are scary and others are just for a specific purpose

I have a whole box of unusual adapters that I have made for very specific purposes

I've seen people run welders off of them.

I’ve seen people run power tools off a hundred feet of two strand barbed wire on a bet. Didn’t make it a good idea, or one you should leave unsupervised.
no, but it does point out there's potentially demand for them.

He has a return address listed so I looked it up. Not the greatest part of town. Few months back I had a bum come up to me near there while I was pumping gas. He asked if I wanted to play him in rock/paper/scissors for $1. Should have given him the dollar for creativity.

What's more scary here is that there are many innocent people who just don't know anything about electrical, and would think that this would "work". How many of us have innocent loved ones (wives, moms, brothers, sisters, cousins, etc) that this is not their area of expertise, and would buy something like this thinking it's a "normal" and "ok" solution? Stuff like this really needs to be taken down.

He's not looking at the scary 240v "jumper" outlet kit. Stereo wiring, big deal. But this seller is treating 240v wiring like it is stereo wiring.
