How many times in a person's life, would you require something like that? Unless you use lots of all-thread, I can see basically zero need.

To hold a hex nut, or bolt, and require access to the top, is only for adjusting valve lash on mechanical cams, or running the overheads on Diesel engines.

I use deep sockets all the time. I agree on the long shaft not often. If you watch the video you will find it has lots more use than long shaft. It appears very versatile.
