Electrician Heath installs a generator transfer panel & he had the meter pulled .He's not touching the main breaker or anything ahead of it. all he's doing is rewiring some breakers basically.
what they do for TV ... the way I see it .

Just watched that last night and wondered why they pulled the meter - I think liability is probably the answer. They presented both options to the home owner - breaker interlock and transfer panel.

I also found it interesting that nobody commented on how rusty and generally worn out the meter housing was. Wouldn't that be the time to think about having the utility company or electrician replace it?

When I installed my 24kW Generac last year, the bottom of the meter box was partially rusted out, and the weathertight fitting (if that's what it's called) had pulled out of the box.

The inspector said all I needed to do was make a new floor plate for the box that would provide something for the fitting to clamp against. I used a piece of 18ga steel and riveted it place.
