His site has been mentioned on some of the threads. Seems to be a good machinist to my undiscerning eye but the humour he adds sets him apart.

I just started watching his videos fairly recently - great content and quite entertaining/humorous!

That's odd...I replied to this thread last night and today my post is missing. Anyway, I'm a big fan of This Old Tony. His videos are educational and funny (check out the ones where he put CNC controls on an Etch-A-Sketch.) It's interesting how the YouTube machining and maker community all seems to know each other - a lot of them have made cameo appearances in his videos, and a lot of the others will make references to him in their videos.

Yeah, I screwed something up and had to repost. Sorry.

Tony is one of my favorite youtubers. He adds a lot of cool production value and humor to his videos that really set them apart. Plus he's a very good machinist.

Another big fan of This Old Tony here. His videos are entertaining and he explains things in ways that just click in my brain.

Glad you found him Ryan, pretty good stuff!

:bounce:just checked out his channel and spit coffee on my keyboard reading some of the video's titles! Hilarious. (Stepper? I Hardly Know her!) can't wait to download them all to my media server and watch when I get home.

Between This Old Tony and AvE,
I don't get anything done.

IT'S THEIR FAULT.

This. I discovered TOT through AvE's channel and then spent the next month binge watching all their stuff. Really...this is when I discovered that there is actually some really good content on YouTube. Cody's Lab is another good one if you haven't discovered it yet. Also good for some crossover with other great channels.

He is one of the very few that can make a 30 min youtube video not feel like two hours. He definitely provides good information, but the humor and editing/production I think really is what sets him apart. There's others that can and do provide good information, but nobody that's nearly as polished doing it.

This bit here with the kitten... that was the funniest thing I've seen in a while.

Better is the one where he scares the bolts out of her. (Don't remember which video it was in). Had me in stitches. Cat goes wide-eyed and you just hear the clank-clank of them hitting the table.:lol_hitti

I've been getting most of my viewing content on youtube for a while now. Much better than the sat dish.

This is so true!

I’ve naturally gotten into watching a good selection of folks on YouTube, simply because I like the content. I started noticing that each of the guys I sub to, know each other on one level or another, even despite not being in the same constant pool. It’s kinda crazy.
This Old Tony has a very unique was of editing his videos that makes, what could be a very boring topic, very entertaining and easy to follow. His humor is top notch and clean. And I’m not usually one for good clean humor :)

I actually got an email from Frank Howarth about one of my videos. He complimented my production. It literally made my month... I mean, I make videos because of that dude and now he's sending me an email? What?

It was a little thing... but I dunno if I could have been any happier.

Keith Fenner, tubalcain/mrpete, AVE, Aboms, and several others have great machinery/tools/machining channels.

Clickspring is on a whole 'nother level. Amazing stuff.

There's a younger guy who runs a machine shop - NYCNC or something like that - who also puts out a ton of great content. He talks a lot about the business and financial end of things, which is a great way to put things into context.

As far as other topics, Lindybeige has a lot of interesting historic and warfare content, which led me to the Tank Museum, which is a whole 'nuther rabbit hole of interesting stuff to while away the winter.

Also, I think Project Binky just released a new video today.

Then there's Jay Leno's Garage, Hoovie's Garage, Dough Demuro (kinda annoying, always interesting cars...), and several other interesting car channels.

Is it just me, or has AvE has lost his way?
I used to look forward to his stuff, not so much anymore, and he even said, early,
'Must be careful of Why a YT'r posts, for info or to keep 'clicks' up... ?

Maybe just me,

That's cool. He knows video production, so you must be pretty good. :)

Been watching TOT and the others for a while and enjoy all/most of it. I stole a few ideas from Tony when he built his welding turntable. Lots of good machine shop and restoration content on the YouTubes.

Maybe just me,

It is not just you. I have long ago unsubscribed from his nonsense. His time would be better spent doing some shop cleanup. Speaking of cleanup, his rough language could use a cleanup. I am not against the use of strong language, but...………………...
