That's right - I said it. This place *****. It ***** my time and money like a huge vacuum is what it does, and none of you are helping matters.

I did a search this morning for a thread I had read near the end of last year. Not only did I find it but I also found a bunch of other threads that I deemed interesting enough to spend three hours reading.

You're all just a bunch of pushers with your pictures of shiny tools and your links to 20% percent off craftsman sales and marked down gladiator cabinets.
I can see you all now with the smug look on your face forcing me to rush off and buy more cool stuff for the garage, persuading me to think I need another tool cabinet for storage, a lift and who knows what else.

I know what you're saying, I'm the one with the problem, and to that I say: I dont have a problem and can quit buying tools and scanning this site anytime I want.

It all started with pics of a vintage plomb wrench stamped "war finish", then discounted air tools, cabinets, files, aaauugggh! This insanity has to end.

The whole lot of you, pushers, dealers, feeding the tool junkies like me without remorse.
Shame on you.

On the other hand, find any good deals lately?:lol_hitti

The first step is denial and then comes acceptance, which I think is the step that you're into right now. Let the healing beign.

Axis11 great post and I feel your pain.

Last night about 8:30 I was pretty much settled in for the night when suddenly... Gladiator cabinets for $29.50 :shocking:. I jumped in the car wandered the store for several minutes (it seems Lowes is cutting back on help in the store and nobody knew where the garage cabinets were:mad:), but I finally came out with two cabinets.

Anyway, Sears and Amazon have gotten money from me due to Stuey and his posts and there are several others out there that make these dangerous posts that feed my "habit".

I have to agree. After seeing the great garages posted, I see how much potential mine have. Just need to dive in and complete some projects.

Don't fall for how friendly and helpful everyone is - this is how they draw you in to their cult. Once you drink the kool-aid you're done for. Another tool zombie, that's what they want.

Sure their posts seam harmless enough, "I just bought this great (insert name of tool here) and I love it! How could I have done anything without it?"

All part of their propaganda machine. Do you need two muffler bearing wrenches? I say absolutely no. We all know you only need one, come on. how many muffler bearings do you think you'll replace in your life time?

We need to double up and use the buddy system to defeat this madness. let your buddy buy the tool so you can borrow it and see if you like it first.;)

I am not hooked, I don't spend too much time on the internet.
I don't buy too many tools, I can quit any time I want.

Axis, you are absolutly right. Instead of being outside and working on the garage or spending time with my kids, I'm here on this board learning from other peoples mistakes or offering sometimes mis-guided advice.

My garage would most likely be finished by now....except I came across this site and ended up changing my plans.....

I was going to epoxy the floor....but seeing all those gorgeous floors....and then hearing about the costs and issues with damage....now I'm just going to put down a sealer.

I was going to use 4' fluorescent tubes...but then after all the discussions including recesed cans....I'm doing cans....especially after all the 'spirited' discussions on color temp of CFL's.

Before this site I thought that maybe I was getting a bit carried away with my garage.....but after seeing some of the members garage I realize.....I'm pretty normal (in relative terms) and not obsessive like some are.....no plans here to have a lift in my driveway to keep my F1's stored underneath...

Yea...it *****....but it's a lot cheaper then visiting the *** sites....

This place and the HAMB, have been a lot of fun since I found them. I've learned a lot already, and stay a lot cleaner sitting at the computer for 3 hours instead of actually going out in the garage!

yes, yes, I'm now one step closer to taking over the world!! Er, I mean, um... have you checked out the Hot Deals Index thread linked to in my signature yet? :D

I have to agree w/you Axis, I bought 6 Gladiator cabinets this am, and my garage isn't even built yet.
I bought one and I don't have a basement or garage!

There are four steps to the GJ member cycle.
1. First, you discover Garage Journal
2. Second, you start to allow yourself to be influenced by GJ, and spend some money accordingly
3. Thirdly, you start to influence the spending habits of others slightly, in an incidental manner of course.
4. Lastly, when you have spent all that you can, and have squeezed every last inch of storage space that you can muster, you begin to knowingly and purposefully entice others with bargains, photos, and recommendations. Is your name Stuey?

Hey Axis11 -

Sounds like you're the type of guy to piss, whine, and moan about everything....

...and since your first post reflects a post tome of 5:30 pm on Valentine's Day, you obviously did something to hack off your wife/GF/goat....

With that said, you are cordially invited to join our Newbie group, over in the Social area. Next time you log in, go to your CP thingy and I forget what you have to do, but there's an invite in there somewhere to join.

If later on we find out that you're a State Certified Auto Tech, we'll throw your grapes out of our exclusive club.

Membership is highly coveted, we only take the bestest.

Stuey, you left off Step 5 & 6.
Step 5: you have spent so much, your wife and dog leaves you
Step 6: You declare bankruptcy
