This weekends acquisitions !

Was out today picking up some things I found for the garage this week.

The "Shell" & the stop light will end up with working lights in them. The old 2 man saw & the yoke are just decorative. The other is a pile (15 pair of 16" & 22") full extension drawer slides that I will be using on my yet to be built, (still gathering the final bits & pieces for everything) welding bench, welding cart & woodshop workbench.
I have a total of $145.00 invested in everything pictured here!

I picked up a traffic light yesterday. Rewiring it so all the lights are on took about 15 min. I also switched to 25w bulbs since the ones that were in it were
REALLY BRIGHT!!!!!

Got that for free. Well not really, it was a gift for helping out a good friend over the years.
It's thick molded or shaped (don't know what it's officially called) glass, stands about 18" tall & is about 10" deep. should look good after it's cleaned up & lighted.

Good score! How long is the cross-cut saw? Is it a 2 handle? It was hard to tell from the pics. BTW 5'-6' 2 man cross cuts go for $100-150 depending on condition in our area. The yoke would bring $65-75 around here. So I would say you did very well.

Clean it up and light it but don't be tempted to repaint the logo, keep the patina.

Really? I pass on them at auctions around here fairly often. I don't think I've seen one go for more than $50. Maybe I should start buying them and ship a box down there...

Yea it really depends on your area. The mountains in Western NC is a hotbed for antique stores, malls, and flea markets. For example cotton scales bring top $ in Northern MS and Memphis TN area, here not so much. Griswold cast iron fry pans bring crazy prices in this area. YMMV.

Even if that Shell globe was a repro, you're still miles ahead! If'n it's real, you paid about 25% of what they go for down here.

The shell globe is "real" not a repop. I was wondering about repainting the logo on it.
Should I... yes or no?

Got the sliders for $2.00 a pair.

The saw is about 5' long, it is a 2 handle type but has no handles & is quite rusty. I am planing on de-rusting it (Not sure what method to use, so ideas are appreciated) & turning a couple of walnut handles for it.

I never realized that stop lights were so huge till I went to pick it up. It's almost 4' tall!

don't repaint the logo and be VERY careful with what you use to wash it with ... anything harsher than dishwashing soap could also remove more of the lettering.
