3 Years in the planning. 8 Months of construction....my garage is almost done....done to the point where there is no more temporary wire, no more storage outside, and no more keeping the benchs and big power tools pulled away from the walls because I was still working on them.

Drywall is done...walls are painted....floor is sealed....wall plates are on (well, most of them)....Stucco on the outside will be complete next week when they come out to do the last coat....

And what will never happen again? The garage will never again be this empty.

Next week we start on the cabinets.....that will be another thread....

And the first item up on the wall permantly....the hose reel only got moved about 3 times during the construction....

Will we ever be done?! I can't wait to be living in just one place again. I have a feeling building a house is going to mostly be a pain because of logistics for us.

That staircase is incredibly cool. I don't even have an upper floor to my garage and I still want one!

Thanks guys.....

Jay....with luck we start on the house 2 story addition next summer...assuming funds are in place...

The staircase is one of the things we like best...takes up very little floor space...both top and bottom and it slows down the kids when they are going up and down....no major tumbles...yet. The 'only' possible issue is we should have gone with the wider stairs....these stairs are large enough to get most of what we want up and down...with the most typical being one of those plastic tubs....anything larger and I'll have to pull the trap door up and get it up that way.

I'm just enjoying that I can now install stuff and get it up for good....
