Re: This won't last long - - GearWrench Torque Wrench

Thanks OP . . . . . I think ! Great tool for the money as $69.70 after I used ShopYourWay and Sears credit card discounts (including tax and FREE shipping).

Don't forget the sears "save15 code" too.
Wish l had seen the SRY rewards coupon too...................LOL
free shipping is nice too, right?

I wish this deal would expire. I already have a Snap-On, Proto, CDI, and I think another one, plus a couple of 3/8s ones. Still thinking about getting this, as all of mine were bought used and will need to be calibrated soon. Although I wouldn't trust the calibration on this either...
where do you have the calibration done, through one of the tool trucks?
What do they usually charge?

I had $10 in surprise points but wouldn't allow me to use them.

Been 24 hours and still says processing, but changed to estimated arrival on OCT 20...10 days shipping?? I noticed yesterday it said available for store pickup in 3-4 days....now says 9-11 days.

Do you think this wrench is any better (besides the extra range) than my USA made Craftsman Microtork 44595?

I haven't used the old USA Microtorque but I doubt there is an appreciable difference as far as quality and accuracy between the old USA Microtorque wrenches and these KD torque wrenches. The old USA Microtork are definitely NOT as ****** as a Harbor Freight tool....the newer chinese Microtork are. I'd say the only appreciable differences between this one and the one you have is the range, the adjustment interval (1lb vs 2lb per mark and 10lb vs 15lb per revolution I think) and the reverse selector.

As someone who upgraded to this Gearwrench from a USA microtork, the differance between the two is quite substantial. Yes, I would also say the Craftsman ones aren't far off of one from HF.

And I'm a big Craftsman fan, but even their USA torque wrenches sucked.

I stand corrected. I knew the chinese microtork were plagued with issues, but I didn't realize the plastic locking ring was also present on the USA version. Seems there are lots of complaints about the ratcheting mechanism failing on both the older USA and newer chinese microtork as well.

I received mine yesterday. Made in USA. Very happy so far. There was an inspection cert inside it showing what it tested at at 50/150/250 ft lb. It was no more than 2% off.

From what I understand, what the tool truck charges depends on how much he likes you.

I'm going to give these guys a try: http://www.teamtorque.com/ . Seem to come highly recommended around here.

Thanks Rocket,

Got mine yesterday too, didn't open it yet though,
Heck, I got my 3/8" one over a year ago, and haven't used it yet................LOL
That was how "bad" I needed it.

I originally ordered 2 of them and cancelled the order about 2 hours later. I have all the cancellation emails and nothing charged to my card, so of course 4 of them arrive yesterday.

Got mine yesterday....been on my want list from the Depot..............just wasn't very high on the list. Ended up in the $50 range with points/discount codes etc so I couldn't pass it up.

Took it down to my buddies shop and guess who was there? The local Snappy guy. As soon as I handed it to my buddy, the Snappy guy mumbles something about "Chinese junk". My buddy handed it to him and pointed out the "Made In USA"........he didn't have much to say after that.

The case is ****...but who cares?

Got mine today. Very happy with it, it seems like good quality especially considering the price. Clearly marked made in USA. I agree the case in nothing special but that's no big deal to me.
