Picked up this interesting Thompson MFG Co. tool at a local junk hotspot over the weekend. Not sure of age or application.

Well, my first thought was battery pliers. A little Google search shows that's what they are.

Called Pelican Pliers apparently, they were 50 cents apiece in this ad from October of 1922:

That's an interesting tool. I haven't been able to find the patent either.

I wonder if this is the Thompson mfg. that made all sorts of carb and ign parts in 40's, 50's,60's.
