thor electric drill?

Does anyone know anything about Thor electric drills?

Thor made really nice corded power tools years ago. They're the all metal case, 20lb, low speed, twist your arm off type that will run forever. I've seen several over the years, and also a portable polisher that was smooth as silk. I don't think parts are available any more, but I would pick one up just to have if I had the opportunity.

I have had a few. I kept the high torque model and sold the rest.

Most Thor are hell-for-stout. I've had all sizes of Thor drills. The only ones I've kept have been a couple of 1/4" for when I want a strong high speed 1/4" hole. The D-handle 1/4" is heavier, stronger and more amperage than a Craftsman 3/8".

Yeah I've got an angle grinder and die grinder, if you can call it that. Not particularly impressive actually. I think they were good for their day.

Was told they were bought out by Skil, but not sure this is accurate.

I bought this cool thor belt sander to sand my hardwood floors. I `ts so cool and Way beefy.

Thanks guys, I actually grabbed one out of the scrap bin an I will clean it up and affix a new cord and we will see if it will still run. It seems very, very stout. I will post updates when I get it cleaned up and running, certainly by the weekend.

Well, it has been longer than the weekend but after some cleaning, adding a new power cord and swapping the brushes this beast runs! I now need to aquire a 5/8" arbor/spindle drill chuck and come up with a solution for the power button being a little worn and now to short to turn the drill off after it is turned on. I think that I ma be able to fabricate a new slightly longer piece that will rotate the contacts off while it is running.

My dad had one, now owned by my brother. I remember my dad saying, go get the Thor, that meant shits going to happen now. I really can't believe I still have my arms, thought they got ripped off buy this drill years ago.
