I picked this up today for a $1.00 at a estate sale today. It sounds great when I put some air into it.

Any history on the quality of these tools?

I am missing the nut on the end to use it any idea where I might find a replacement? I checked a website called airtools.com but I cannot find the model number on the air grinder only the ser. num. 364104.

Any ideas?

Craig

I know only that Thor electric tools are professional quality. I have an 8" grinder and a sander. I have never seen their air tools.

Someone correct me if I'm mistaken... but I believe there is a standard thread on collets for air grinders. If it's a 1/4" air grinder (accepts 1/4" shank) then just try threading on a nut from another grinder and see if it works. Do you have the inner "squeezing" part that actually grips onto the bit?

Yep it's missing the collet tightening nut, AND the collet.

That is almost certainly an SAE thread, so if you take it in somewhere, make sure the replacement parts are not Metric... :dunno:

There may be more than one collet size available as well

I was hoping it might be something standard. I will stop by tool mart after work and see what I can find out. The thing looks ancient but it sounds like a high quality piece of equipment. I am excited about putting it to use in the garage!
