You guys wearing White's, Wesco, or Nick's, are cheap shoppers. :D

For that price, I would hope that those aren't some of their import boots, or some of their "Built in the USA" as opposed to their "Made in the USA".

I'd say that's a mistake since the majority of their stuff is $150-$350. I paid about $250 for mine about 4 years ago and they are worth every penny. They are my most comfortable pair of shoes.

This happens frequently on Amazon, people ask insane prices on Redwing and Thorogood.

Really? I'll have to look into them. These redwings are worn out and I was never particularly happy with them. Thanks for the input

I think that's a bit of a trick that sellers play sometimes.

They'll post outrageous prices on EBay or Amazon to make you think you're getting a fantastic deal somewhere else.

There's a Japanese knife company that does that. They'll show up on Amazon at $1200, but their site has them marked down to $300. The $1200 is just to fool you into thinking that they're actually worth $1200.

I was a Redwing guy and had never heard of Thorogood. One of the Hotrod Guys I follow on instagram mentioned how much he liked them so I did some research and bought a pair and love them. I spend a lot of time walking/standing on concrete and they really work well with my ankles and feet.

These are pretty close to mine.

Going on two years with my 804-4200 boots. They have held up great and are very comfy. My only recommendation is order a wide since they run narrow.

Don't ask.

I think they just put the high price on them due to bing out of stock. This way they just have to change the price and don't have to renter them on the web site. BTW: If you filter that site for brand and sort by price (highst first) these don't show up at the top.

And I thought my Viberg's were expensive.

Vibergs are expensive, had Daytons before not quite as expensive but they do last.

Vibergs and Daytons are BC made, Wesco is Oregon. Their history is based on logging boots. The wet West coast weather is tough on boots.

Vibergs sell mainly service boots the one the picture sells for $1090 and Daytons are best known for triple soled motorcycle boots about $700 a pair, their work boots are about $450

How are the Dayton work boots ? I’ve been eyeing them up for my next pair after my thorogoods finally give in. The price has creeped up to 545 CAD. I just don’t know if I can swing that. Then they really screw you by offering buy 1 get 1 half off. :lol_hitti

I can vouch for Wesco's. Have had a couple of pair over the years and can be rebuilt 2-3 times. Priced a new pair of lineman boots and was 650ish.

Even though the thread started out as a gag,
these Thorogoods went on sale for $126 last November,
(currently $185), so I tried a pair.

Unlike most "good" boots I've had, they were comfortable on day one.
10 months later the soles are still acceptable, but the uppers are getting pretty loose.

my last 10 pairs of boots were:
2 pairs of Keens,
a pair of Georgia's,
2 pairs of Redwings,
and 5 or 6 pairs of Chippewa's

The Thorogoods may not last the longest (that might be the Georgia's or the Keens),
but they were by far the most comfortable on day one
Most of the others weren't as comfy when broken in as the Thorogoods were out of the box.

Those blue shell cordovan boots are really beautiful, though $1100 is getting up into Crockett & Jones shell cordovan territory.

R.M. Williams in Australia is another company that makes great boots. Their Chelsea boots are wholecuts. The ones to buy are nailed sole in yearling (kangaroo). The only other cobbler I know to do naled soles is Georg Materna in Vienna.
