I have a small flat panel, I haven't purchased a mount for it yet, since I haven't finalized where it will be placed, but I will probably buy a mount from www.monoprice.com
I have purchased a couple of HDMI and optical cables from them, for about 10-20% of the cheapest stuff at the big box stores, and they have been high quality. I happened to find the mounts while buying some new cables for the new LCD, and they are way cheaper than you can find anywhere locally, even Fry's.

My setup doesn't sound like what you are doing, but I have a 42" LCD mounted on a standard, cheap wall mount. I put it on 3" wood spacers to build it out from the wall so I could mount my satellite receiver behind it out of view.

It's not in my garage, but here is what I use for the 50 inch in the living room. Search for an articulating mount. I've got an OmniMount (what you see in the pic, UCL-X) and a Sanus (unused).

Depending upon how big your TV is be careful about how much weight you hang on your wall with one of these articulating mounts. This will extend 30 +/- inches from the wall, pan left/right, rotate left/right, and tilt up/down. It is quite a piece. I think the mount itself was about 40# The TV is around 90# so with it fully extended that is alot of weight acting upon the framing. I did a very significant amount of additional blocking and bracing when installing this mount. One draw back is that the ability to extend from the wall means that at its most collapsed position it stands off from the wall a few inches. Mine is mounted in a recess in the wall so it's not too bad. Let me know if you have anymore questions.

Yup, what he said...Monoprice.com is the ONLY place to buy a mount if you care about what the cost is. I got a full movement tilt, swivel, pull out wall mount for a heavy-*** Panny plasma for under $100 WITH shipping. The thing is built like a tank and is easy to install. You may have to sign up for email notification of when they are back in stock; they sellout very fast every time they get a new shipment in...just be patient and it will work out. No other mount out there comes even close for all the features for that kind of $$$.

I need to find a mount that I could attach to the garage ceiling and then fold away when I don't use it... perfect for playing poker! ;)

Another vote for monoprice. I have my 46" Samsung LCD mounted in my living room with one of there full tilt and swivel mounts. I like the swivel even though I keep it flat against the wall as I can get behind it to make connections easy by just swiveling it out from wall. Very sturdy and well made. 1/4 the price of any purchased locally.

Thumps up for Parts Express. I have ordered a bunch of stuff from them. I have a 42" LCD on a fixed mount and I think it was 39 dollars??? Good stuff... I was in Best Buy over the weekend and coughed at the price of Sanus mounts.

monoprice is great. I've purchased a few things from them. I thought about buying their articulating mount, but got the omnimount off of fleabay for a reasonable price. Fleabay also had a couple of vendors selling knockoff/unbranded omnimounts that look identical. They also cribbed the mounting instructions and dimensions. Either way still not too cheap. The sanus mounts are also crazy expensive, but another solid mount.

If you want to do some research drop into avsforum dot com, but be careful. Those guys are crazy for audio/video like this forum is for tools.

I've purchased quite a few long cables and a couple mounts from monoprice also, and their pricing, shipping, and return policies are all top notch..

I've got no complaints and recommend them for diy custom installation parts to anyone who asks...

I also need a mount and cables for my new 42" LCD. I guess monoprice got a few sales from GJ members.
Thanks
