Thoughts from Advantage Lift owners about your power unit?

I'm going to place my order for an Advantage Lift XLT today. While talking to the guy, I mentioned that I might be interested in upgrading the power unit to the 220 unit that they sell with the 11,000# unit. I've heard that the extra power of the 220 unit will lift a vehicle a little faster than the 110. He confirmed that it would raise a car faster and possibly be a longer lasting unit if it's something that is going up and down a lot. He quoted me an extra 160.00 for the 220 unit added on.

My question is, has anybody else upgraded to the 220 and how do you like it? Any 110 owners wish they would've upgraded to the bigger motor or does your lift go up plenty fast enough without it. Just trying to figure out if it'd be a worthwhile expense or not to add on for an extra 160.00. Thanks

I have the 110 and it isn't the speediest thing going up but for as much as I go up and down it wouldn't have been worth it to me to go with 220.

So I think the thing to ask yourself is how often you will be going up with it. Typically I use my lift a number of times a month but I'm certainly not running multiple cars on and off the lift everyday. If you aren't doing a lot of up and down than is $160 worth 10 or 15 seconds? If you are doing multiple cars on and off in a single day than I wonder if instead of buying the bigger motor that maybe you should be considering a professional lift.

The 120V motor says it can take either voltage. It wouldn't surprise me if hooked up to 240V it would run, although it does come with a 120v plug.

However the motor speed next to it says, 2850/3450 so it is not twice the RPM, but 20% faster? The bigger pump upgrade would move more fluid and more powerful for sure.

It really does run well and the pump is a legitimate 120V appliance. There are other lifts out that that requires 30 amps on 120V so it is an immediate code violation with the plug they send. I needed to exercise caution due to ceiling height, I am not in a hurry lifting, the speed seems fine on 120V.

If anything, the lift seems to come down a tiny bit faster than I would like (with a car on it). The pump manual says you can adjust the descend speed through the plunger assembly but I have not looked into messing with that, because the lift comes down really slow without any weight on it.

Yeah, by no means am I a professional shop with multiple cars going up and down. Just a normal hobbyist. On the flip side though, 160 didn't seem like too much extra to spend if there was any real benefit to it, but who knows... I went ahead and told them to throw it in, everything should be here by next Friday. Maybe once it's all together, I'll time it to see how long it actually takes to get to full lift with the 220 upgrade.

So, you ordered your lift this week and you should have it by next week? How lucky are you? I ordered mine the first week of April and it just came in!! I installed it yesterday. There are some very heavy parts in that bundle.

Yeah, I ordered it late Friday (6/9) afternoon and they said it will be here this upcoming Friday (6/16). Having it delivered to my buddy's factory, 15 miles away, so the truck can just back into his dock to unload it, then the forklift operator can drive it out and set it on my car hauler trailer afterwards. Don't know if I just got lucky with them having a bunch in stock at the time or what. It's also just going from Minnesota to Michigan so maybe it's an easier move logistically (less carriers involved) than getting one down to Florida.

They just completed a huge manufacturing order. They had to build over 65 to fulfill orders from the Barrett Jackson Palm Beach auction. I'm sure they had more than the Palm Beach requirements and you just ordered yours at the right time. You will enjoy it and you WILL need a friend to help.
