Thoughts on Ikea Cabinets...and layout

Hi everyone. We are getting ready to break down on our new two car garage here in San Diego. Garage is 22' (actually 23') wide by 32' feet deep (narrow because of setback requirements). I am thinking about using Ikea Cabinets and came up with the following design. I need to leave room for my 42" Craftmans toolset and my compressor but wanted to get you guys opinion on the Ikea cabinets and the layout.

The ceiling is 12' and I will have a two post lift on one side (we have three cars). Thanks!

The Ikea cabinets are just as good as any other brand of assemble-yourself cabinets. The layout appears to lack any creativity whatsoever. What all will you be storing in the garage besides the cars and the tools mentioned? Is the amount of work space actually adequate? When I planned out my shop / garage, I started with an inventory of all items I wanted to store and all tasks I could imagine performing in the space, and made cabinet decisions from there. When it was all said and done, my initial thoughts were very different from the final layout.

Anything on the other wall, or will that be where stuff like the welder, press, parts washer, drill press, etc are going to be?

Actually the IKEA cabinets when all priced out arent uch cheaper than say gladiator. I looked at them also when I was setting up my garage.

I was looking at the stainless steel fronts though.

As for your layout I like it. Looks good, and should be effective for alot of storage.

However, if storage is what your after, and it appears you are, why not stack the cabinets even higher up the wall?

You look to have a few more feet above your cabinets. You could add more wall cabinets giving you and entire wall of storage. WIth that you might be able to eliminate some of the other storage cabinets on the other wall.

Then you could add some more benches or harware bins?

Just a thought. Depends what you really use your garage for.
