I'm being fairly heavily recruited by maintenance supply company called Kimball Midwest. The job is outside sales for shop supplies, tools, etc... I'd be interested in the collective opinion of the company from the Garage Journal crew.

Thanks.

Just as inportant is the market they serve.
Is it healty in what will be your territory?
How strong is your competition?
Pay package construction?
Existing customer base?

The latest trend in repeat supplies is factory floor vending machines that take the employee ID card and despense WD40, paint sticks, etc, etc.

Just shot him a PM, thanks.

The vending machines are a good idea, but in my experience they are never stocked or re-stocked properly.

I've done my homework on pay, market, etc... The only thing I can't seem to draw a good bead on is the company itself. There is a fair amount of negative stuff on the web from former employees, but that's pretty common in today's interweb world.

You always have to take employer reviews on the web with a grain if salt. They are usually written by former employees, and typically disgruntled former employees at that. Are you on LinkedIn? You may want to connect with current employees (if there are any on LinkedIn) in the same or similar positions that way and get a boots in the field perspective.

A few times a year I have people contact me that way about me employer liking for insight prior to applying or interviewing.
