Kroil is a really good product but sometimes the sprayability of PB Blaster is very useful, exp. if you're using it in conjunction with the blue tip wrench.If you want to try Kroil,Brownells is a good mail order source.

You can get Kroil either in gallon cans or in aerosol - does PB Blaster come in another form?

I use PB Blaster all the time, in Aerosol and regular spray bottle. My local Advance Auto carries it in the gallon container and it comes with a metal spray bottle.

I also use Sea Foam ( Deep Creep ) spray with good results, and also Jig A Loo which is great around the house cause it doesn't stink.

Have been using PB for years....good stuff. I didn't know it came in gallon sizes. I recently started using WD-40 in a spray bottle vs. aerosol.

Buy the issue if you want to see how they did the test. The results reported were interesting. The lower the number of pounds the better. I'm curious to know how the testers arrived at a standard for "rustiness".

Yeah and how they got all test as "rutsy" The ATF is interesting though. I am a big PB fan and I know a dude who owns a JY and likes the Liquid Wrench better.

Kroil hands down. Dad had a frozen pump on our grain vac, filled it with a gallon of wd-40 for a week, nothing. He then dumped it and sprayed an entire can of pb blaster in it and let it sit for a few days, nothing. He told me about it, and I sent him a partial can of Kroil. He sprayed part of the can of Kroil I gave to him on it one morning, when he came home from the field that night, he broke out the big pipe wrench again...and the pump turned just by letting go of the wrench.

He went and ordered a case of Kroil the next morning.

We had frozen valves on our ford 8N, it had sat for years, nothing broke them loose, he sprayed kroil on it, it fired right up the next day.

I have never tried Kroil, but it sounds like I need to.

I have heard of ATF as a cheap penetrant, but never in conjunction with acetone. It sounds explosive.

PB Blaster is readily available, cheap, and works well. PB + heat is even better.

I use PB all the time and it does work well, however it smells like toxic waste. I had wasps in an eave right outside my garage and somehow I stirred them up, in my hand was a can of PB Blaster, the wasps fell dead to the ground with just one spray.

Another PB user here. I tried it and like it after I was told about it and I always keep a can or two on hand. I still have a few cans of WD-40 and a can of Liquid Wrench but I don't use them much anymore as a penetrant. I do use the WD to clean tools with stubborn dirt though.

DAH is right. WD40 is useless for rust busting, it's a water dessicant. PB is what you need.

PB Blaster is available at Canadian Tire. If you're talking about Kroil, it is a little more difficult to find. In Edmonton you can get it at Century Valen.

PB Blaster has worked well for me.

However, Kroil always did the trick when working on RUSTY cars around Cleve-burg. God bless the lake effect snows and subsequent rust-promoter sprayed on the roads...

I too reach for the Kroil when PB Blaster and the other won't do the job.

I was working on some siezed up carbs and recently and the only thing that would brake 'em loose was Kroil.

I agree the smell will stay way after the work is finished. I put down cardboard to catch the excess pb blast.

PB is great stuff but only to break stuff free that will later be cleaned. I put some in a padlock and it worked great, for a week. Then it got all gummed up. I blastred it again then when free wd'd it. Works great now.
