Thoughts on Simpson Pressure Washer?

I am thinking of getting a pressure washer for around the shop.

I use one maybe 4-5 times a year, so I don't really want to spend many thousands, but I can justify up to $1500 or so.

I would prefer a beefy electric unit with kerosene heater, but I can't seem to justify the added expense for how infrequently I use one. In an ideal world, I would park it in the corner of the shop by the door, and just spool out hose into the parking lot when I need to wash something. I got spoiled by this at a shop I used to work at, and nothing since has ever really measured up.

Realistically, I think a gas powered cold water unit is probably the more reasonable for my uses. This would also allow me to take it home and wash my siding, deck and whatever else, as a big electric isn't very portable without a crane or forklift at both ends.

At the shop we would be using it to clean equipment primarily, and the occasional nasty machine tool or something. I also do hog roasting as a side thing, and we blast out the pig roaster before a roast.

That is pretty good. I don't recall how much hp the engine is,, 13 is kind of a modern standard and 4 gpm is a good amount of power. Says 16,900 units, this is substantial. While hot is a LOT better, it makes it a whole different machine the price starts at 5k to get something worthwhile.

I bought two different electric units befor this one. The electric ones just weren’t up to the task. (Admittedly, they were homeowners models)

I wash trucks, tractor, quads, trailer plus the driveway and sidewalks of my family members.

It’s been spot on. I’m really happy with it


Do run it out of fuel after each use. Also, use pump preservative (cleans out minerals and water, saves the seals)

I’ve added extra hose, a surface cleaner, and now an undercarriage washer for cars.

I've got one similar to that with a GX390. I've had it at least 20 years. Mine has a different brand pump. It will practically knock you down with the pressure.

I found an old Mi T M, hot washer that was missing the engine and pump and put it on there. Now I have a good hot washer. It's bulky and heavy but it works good.

I have one similar, same company, smaller psi.
You are going to be pissed off every time you try to roll it somewhere.
Handle is too low & too short & I have to bend over as I move it.
I previously had one of the hand cart styles that was much easier to move & took up less floor space.
When this one dies, I will go back to the other style.
