I saw a thread reviewing the Tekton split beam torque wrench, are there opinions on the micrometer torque wrenches from Tekton? Pricing is good, $44.00 and I have a $15 credit. My usage is working on my Jag and 4Runner, small engine and general mechanic work (non-professional).

I have several of them. Seem to work just fine and well made. They’re hard to beat for the money especially if you’re just torquing lug nuts and spark plugs.

I use one for working on Harleys. Probably not pro quality but it works for me.

I personally don't like torque wrenches with lock nuts. Too easy to lose your setting while tightening fasteners.

It's worth the extra few bucks to get one with a sliding collar.

I agree with this.

I have the 1/4 inch drive that goes from 10-200 or whatever. It is bang on accurate. I've tested it with my 10-50 PI. The only thing that isn't great on it is the lock nut. I'd probably buy a different one next time around, but as far as accuracy there is not much to worry about imo.

(n) Bottom of the barrel torque wrench, equivalent to $10 (on sale) ones at Harbor Freight.
Professional or not, if you don't want to 2nd guess using it, I would at least get something decent, such as:
Or go digital, so much better.

I am seeking the best option for a wrench that will see 95% of its duty on wheel bolts - specifically a 95Lb. setting - that is under $200.
Black Friday is coming. Wait for a HF coupon and could bring the cost down to $100.

They work. That about sums it up. I'm a torque wrench junky and have about 30 different ones. My go to are Eclatorq digital but these aren't necessary for what you want to do. The best deal in digital torque wrenches are the Harbor Freight Quinn with angle that are in fact made by Eclatorq. Don't know if you have any torque to yield fasteners on what you're working on but if you do the Quinn is the answer with respect to bang for buck.

I just purchased the TEKTON 1/4" Drive Dual-Direction Click Torque Wrench (10-150 in.-lb.) TRQ21101, mostly for electrical fittings and small fasteners. Seems to be very good quality for the price ($50), it is made in Taiwan, all metal construction and a fine pitch ratchet. It is calibrated and they state an accuracy of 4% in either direction, which is fine for the level of work I do. Sometimes one gets caught up with the bells and whistles like going digital, at the end of the day they all get the job done. Tektron's split beam torque wrench looks identical to the HF ICON. If I didn't already have a 3/8" and 1/2" torque wrench I would probably go with a split beam.

l have the 1/2" version. It's OK l guess, just something about the micrometer part, l don't like the feel of it.

I have all four of the Tekton click type torque wrenches. The only issue that I've had with any of them is that the my 1/2" (10 - 150 ft/lbs) wrench maxes out at ~130 ft/lbs. The adjustment handle won't let me go any further.

I had the torque wrench for over a year before I realized it, and I haven't bothered to see if Tekton would do anything about now.

I have the 1/2" 10 to 150 lb clicker. Have had no issues this far, although it hasn't seen tons of use. I did use it today when I rotated my tires. Couldn't pass up the price when I bought it ($40 on Amazon a couple years ago).

They will replace it right away.

I have two of the 1/4 inch ones with the locking collar. The first one I ordered from Tekton got lost in the mail, so while I was waiting for that to get resolved, i ordered a second on from Amazon with next day shipping. The one from Amazon is perfect. The one from Tekton, when it finally arrived, the scale is poorly lined up to the point that I have zero confidence of what it is set to. I had intended to return it, but I'm most likely well beyond any return window.

Years ago I bought a similar torque wrench at Pep Boys when I needed one that I already had but was on the road and didn’t want to duplicate at a high price. I figured it would work good enough. It disintegrated at first use, and I have never bought a cheap wrench since. Others seem to have had better experience, but mine burnt me.

I'd love to see Tekton sell a flex head fine tooth micrometer torque wrench in 3/8 and 1/2- similar to the 1/2" Icon.

bbrins- give Tekton a call, their customer service is first rate.

Tekton has a great lifetime warranty. They will replace it.

I have their 1/4 and 3/8 micrometer style. I am very happy with them. I had to warranty one of them after the ratchet mechanism started to skip in a couple positions. It was replaced quickly. Great customer support.

I purchased the split beam 3/8 and 1/2 when they came out and were on sale because I needed the higher torque of the 1/2 for axle nuts, etc. I like them as well. No complaints.

Mine is just alright. No problems with it but it's obviously an economy unit. I torque just about everything on our Harleys and it works fine for us. I test it against an el cheapo torque meter and my Proto torque wrench and it has always checked out. Mind you, I'm not a professional mechanic.

I pulled the trigger and am happy with 'as received.' Assuming the test results ( <1% for my primary TQ setting & use ) are accurate, and I have no reason to doubt them, I think this is a good value.

I have owned the 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" since 2016, with several of those years in a full-time professional setting. The 1/4" and 1/2" have been perfect, the 3/8" nothing but problematic. I love the 1/4" and 1/2" and they torque very close to my old Craftsman external bar-style torque wrenches, which I use for quick and dirty calibration tests. The 3/8" has been the problem child for me...first it started binding up, so I warrantied it in painless Tekton fashion. This new 3/8" worked fine..until I was doing cylinder head bolts, and it failed to click. After some testing, I found it would not reliably click in the higher torque range. VERY worrisome given the job at hand. I now have a 3/8" Gearwrench electric with flex head. I do think Tekton's QC and designs have improved significantly over the years, many of the "cheaply made" items have been replaced or dropped from the line (air hoses, long needle nose pliers, short all black impact star sockets...I have broken several of these and get the new chrome tip/impact bottom as welcomed replacements).

That is the one I have, no complaints at all.
Same.
I would say my only "complaint" is I had to add a little padded strip on the locking lever
because sometimes I snap my finger tip with it. But I would consider that user error
