I found this compressor available. Very low price. Obviously some work needs to be done.

I don't know anything about it yet, I haven't called on it...

I was just wondering what you guys thought about it for use at my house. It would probably need to be outside... I dunno... Thoughts?

James

sometimes just because you can, doesn't mean you should. Even in a well equiped shop, that is the compressor equivalent to driving a dump truck to haul grass clippings.

Plus, maybe it's just me, but I use my compressor to do projects and jobs. I don't want my compressor to BE the project.

If he can show you the pump builds pressure you may do OK for $50 if you want a project. It looks fairly old so finding a rebuild kit for the pump may be difficult/impossible. There are start caps on the motor so it may be a single phase but I can’t tell. Or someone tried to rig a 3 phase motor to start on single phase. Regardless that is an old motor and will be an energy hog. I don’t know I if I would trust the tank in my home. Basically you will walk away with a pump you may be able to rebuild and a lot of scrap. I would look elsewhere. There are plenty of compressors around that will take up less space and be less trouble.

Who makes the pump? That would be my first question, then find out if parts are available. What's the motor hp? You may find after (if) you buy it that the tank is bad/unrepairable.

The motor looks like a replusion motor?
