20" depth??? I never knew SO made something that shallow. Personally I wouldn't give that much money for it if it truly is only that deep. But if that's wrong and it had a few more inches I'd jump on it.

Odd, the wife just agreed with that last sentence.......wonder wtf she meant by that. :dunno:

Yeah, that is actually a selling point for me, I have an exceptionally deep but narrow garage :(

Well then it's a sweet looking box and no doubt great quality. You sure won't be getting one off the truck for that kind of money. Go for it

I had that same box in Black for many years, it's a great quality box if you need something shallow. The drawers aren't as heavy duty as the master boxes, about the same as the classics.
The price is great too, they usually sell for that well used around here. I think list was around $2700-3200 last time I saw.

heritage series are 20" depth, it is an older box, rounded corners and made in Canada, still a good box, my guess 20K cubic inches

Yeah, it will be wedged between my work-bench area and the wall; very little clearance unfortunately. I think for the price I am going to take a look with some scratch in my pocket. Thanks for the feedback, y'all.

edit: 350lbs, really hoping my buddy eats a good breakfast, haha

That line fills a niche for what you're looking for. (depth)

Don't expect the traditional Snap-on 'feel' with it; it's not going to give you that. They're good boxes, though.

The KRA boxes are still nice. IMO they are stronger feeling than comparable entry level options from Mac / Matco. If that box is really brand new $1200 is an excellent price and $1000 cash is an even better deal.......

I have a KRA5318FPCM and yes, it is 20" deep. I have a very narrow 2-car garage that can barely fit 2 cars. The box listed is a deal and I would go for it.

Those are an entry level, box. Snap ones bottom end
We use those at my work and they are decent boxes. Better than craftsman but not really the snap on quality level most people think of.
One problem is the little clip holding the lock rod that kept, coming off. I have drilled small holes for using cotter pins to solve the problems

I disagree with those that say the Heritage (and Classic) models don't have that quality feel you get in the KRLs. Remember when the box is smaller, it can be made of lighter material and still be as rigid. I can open a fully loaded drawer on my KRA4107 pulling on one corner of it, just the same as on my friend's KRL.

I have one of these series boxes. It was my first "real" box. They are a good box for what they cost. Not a master's series box by any stretch, but a decent box nonetheless. I probably wouldn't pay more than $800, but that's just me.

Agree, there is very little that is non-snapon about it. The drawers to me felt lighter than a Master, but the same as a Classic and still fine (regularly used mine for climbing with no problem). The construction is great, its heavy and feels it, it can take a ridiculous beating (used mine in harsh conditions for nearly 10 years and still sold it for a few hundred less than retail new), I never had a single warranty repair on it the whole time and it is still in use to this day another ~5 years later. Dimensions are the primary issue making it not feel like a snap on, they are just "small" compared to all other lines, even Classic which is shallow too, just not as much. There is really not much point in comparing this to a Lowes or HF top end box, it is night and day as far as I'm concerned. Anyone saying that a $400 box from ____ is just as good is someone that is trying to justify their less expensive purchase. While it is true not everyone needs the expense of a SO box and can get by on a cheap box store tool box, that doesn't make them equal by any means. Sure it isn't a Master or an Epiq (what is?), but it's a damn nice box for the money.

Thanks for all the input, fellas. Wound up getting it and am very, very pleased. Some drawers still had the protective cardboard inserts. Here are some pics:

Here it is with my bike backed in...hence the need for a shallow box, haha:

I really dig the color, what is it called besides blue? Haha. The one down side to me would be the one really deep drawer. I find them damn near useless. I don't have tools in cases and my welding hood is with the welder. I still would have bought it though. Keep us up to date on how it works out for you.

That's great. You'll be able to stand between the bike and the narrow drawers and open the wide drawers by tugging on the front corner of the drawer closest to you.

You did good, looks like a great fit! Those deep drawers are great for tools in blow molded cases
