What are your thoughts on this as a fixer-upper?

Any idea on manufacturer, size, etc?

Yup! It's a champion for sure. Parts internal are expensive. IMO not worth the cost.

It turned out to be a Speedaire, obviously made by Champion. Model was 3Z166B. 30 gallon tank, 2hp motor. Did about 4-5cfm with this setup, dual belt driven.

Was alright, and ran fine, just not what I was looking for. It was very quiet.

If it is free, and the motor and tank are good, all you need is a good pump.

a Champion pump will last a lifetime, definitely worth it unless the cylinders are rusted up... at least parts are AVAILABLE for them which is more than I can say for some of the up n coming (or so they think) brands... rebuild it and it'll be a LONG time before you gotta touch it again, youll get what you pay for..... especially if youre gettin the unit for free or close.

True, but 4~5 cfm pump would take an hour to pressurize that tank to 100psi and couldn't keep up with even a 3/8" impact gun.

Plus, it's not the high-dollar, two-stage, disc valve pressure lubed Champion, it's a low-buck lined aluminum cylinder, aluminum head reed valve splash lubed Champion. That said, mine makes 10cfm and works fine for me as long as I don't run it too hard.
