Been looking for a used 60 gallon compressor of descent quality without breaking the bank and come across this one on Craigslist. It appears to be a two stage and the ad says it is a single phase and has a Baldor motor. I was hoping to stay away from some of the newer IR problems that seem to be out there, is this unit of better quality than some of their newer items? Is there a way to tell the age from just the photos? Owner is asking $800. I'm waiting to hear back from the owner but was hoping to get some more info before hand.

Made in USA. This has had very little use. I am the original owner and just used it for home use. I am retired and moving to Florida so I am selling off all my large tools."

I don't remember that one coming with a Baldor motor, but I could be wrong. You can date if from the certification on the tank. What are you planning on using it for?

I have the model down from that one. Had it about 8-9 years now, use it a lot. The motor died last year, a replacement went on and I'm still using it. If I needed one and that was on my local CL I would buy it. Wouldn't even haggle over the price much. Keith

Thanks for the info,
Unfortunately the guy just got back with me and it sold already. As clean as that one looked I should of jumped on it last night when I saw it. :(

Sorry its gone. I have a T-30 almost identical. Bought around 1998 or so, been used hard on certain days in blast cabinet duty. But it has never failed or complained.

IR offered an additional 1 year warranty if it was filled with their synthetic compressor oil, it was around an additional $50 for the package.

You will eventually find the "price point" issues like self tapping screws used to mount the motor, but it seems good enough.

If I ever had to get another I'd get a Quincy. I put a new one of those thru a "bomb test" in a plant where I worked, it served as a backup compressor on a critical chemical system which could not be run at reduced plant air pressure over a long holiday period. More or less this compressor was running-on 75% of 24x7 over two weeks straight. No complaints just sat there and did its job, and backed up on 2 day weekends for another year after that. A Quincy also passes the eyeball test, its pump is massive compared to a T-30.

Jason: I have what looks to be the exact same item in my garage now -- not hooked up yet - but will be soon. The I/R T30 is a rugged piece for sure -- worked in a steel mill for 35 years + & these were all over the place. My understanding is the T30 is a reference to the year that design was introduced - 1930 - and it's still going strong today. Easiest way to tell if it's a two-stage -- look at the cylinders -- if one is smaller diameter than the other -- it's a two-stage. $800 is not a bad price -- picked mine up for $350 -- guy owed a lot of people money -- I paid him -- loaded it up & got out of Dodge!

T30s are a good unit mine was built 1960 and still going strong on a new tank, parts are relatively inexpensive.
