Thoughts on Yeswelder welding helments?

I'm just learning how to weld and am NOT doing this professionally, just as a hobby.

That said I have a Lincoln gas-less welder (Weld-pak 100) and a cheap welding helmet. However when I weld I can't see a darn thing other an a white light. I can't see where I'm doing or where I've been. It's more of a guessing game.

I've been told a better helmet, one that can adjust and so on could really help in making it easier to see my project.

Looking around I've came across yeswelder (https://yeswelder.com/) and their autodimming helmets which seem to be very reasonably priced, but wanted to see if anyone here has tried them and what your thoughts were on it!

The cheapest HF helmets I’ve had all seem to work well enough. If you’re having issues seeing the work piece you might try positioning a strong work light nearby slightly beside you. It helps. Also try tossing a shop rag over the top of the open part of the helmets top to cut off back glare if strong overhead light or bright daylight is bugging you.

Do you need glasses to see? I only normally use reading glasses, but adding a 1.5 magnification lens to mine REALLY made it easier to see what I was doing.

I have an even cheaper one. No name and likely came from the same country. .

Works really well. Doesn't have the big lens like the expensive ones. But, does have delay and shade selections that work. Head gear fits well. Shell is lightweight and flexy, but does the job. I've had mine for a couple of years so it was a little cheaper than the current pricing:

I have the 3350 and love it, but make sure you have extra batteries available. Mine died once in the middle of a project and caused a big delay. A close friend has the yeswelder and it's very similar, but not as clear as the Lincoln. For the price, I'd buy one. It's a lot better IMO than the cheaper harbor freight helmets. I had one with the blue flames and wasn't thrilled with it.

I'll also add that I use them on a Lincoln SP135, similar to that weld pak.

If you are serious about a new helmet go to your local welding supply house. Ask them to let you test run a few. Then buy it from them. It has worked for me.
