Yes, but why? Tip, when selecting a thread/bearing locker/retainer, go by shear strengh and gap fill, not color.

They make a stick that works like a big tube of blue chapstick, and is about the same consistency. SOoo much more convenient than the liquid variety.

Why? Because it's good when there's still enough threadlock on the fastener by the time you get it into position to do the job. And little/no threadlock running down your forearm or dripping on other bits.

LOL

I like the sticks of thread locker as well. They also make a version for assembled hardware, I guess it penetrates then hardens. I usually like to harden first then penetrate, but whatever works.

I prefer the glue stick version. It is very convenient to use. Remember, blue for you, and red for someone you dread. (Unless application calls for something else)

Loctite sent me a sample of the stick. (I don't recall why.)

It seemed ok, but I usually only buy the normal viscosity liquids. If you are applying so much that it is running off, you might be over doing it a bit.

I suppose they make it in different strengths? Great idea...I've been out of the trade a while.

Loctite and Permatex make different colors for different strengths in regards to threadlocker. Its seems to me some of the competing companies keep the color scheme pretty standard at least.

Purple (low strength) is for #2 - 1/4" fasteners (Loctite 222 or Permatex 222102)
Blue (medium strength) is for 1/4" to 3/4" fasteners (Loctite 242 or permatex 242102)
Red (high strength) is for 1/4" to 3/4" fasteners (Loctite 262 or permatex 262102)
Green (wicking grade) is for fasteners that are already installed(Loctite 290)
Yellow (Dri-loc) does not specify which size fasteners it is for but is pre-applied on fastener and sits inert until the fasteners are tightened (loctite 200)

There are a host of other options now including surface-sensitive, threadlock for plastic fasteners, pastes, liquids tapes. So many options. The link below goes over a lot of it and has a good application flowchart.
